Tie for 1st is Nuggets beating Sonics and Warriors beating Mavericks. Probably give edge to Warriors over Mav's because it was a 7 game series vs 5 games between the Nuggets/Sonics.

Cavs getting swept was pretty embarrassing. Well maybe more boring than anything........
I'm so tired of the typical......

My knicks beating the Heat when the Knicks were an 8th seed.

I think us knick fans and heat fans should apologize though, because that was the last time basketball was relevant and important. I think we ruined basketball because of the brawls and fights that would occur between us.

but ruining Riley and his ring prophecy was funny.

but those couple of years were really the last time basketball really mattered in the American media.

Lakers getting destroyed by the Jazz in 97. I though Shaq+Eddie Jones+Nicky V = at least WCF. Then after Kobe started playing like a 6MOY contender I thought it was a lock. To see the coach give the ball to an 18 yr old rookie (kobe) in the last few minutes of the game was ridiculous considering Nicky V was renowned for his clutch shots AND WE HAD SHAQ!!!

The one that hurt the most was the loss to the Spurs in 2003. Mitch and Buss had let the talent level of the Laker role players degrade so much that we had Madsen, Samaki Walker, and Slava Medvadenko starting for large parts of the season or playing far too many minutes. Mad dog gave us lots of energy and he's got heart but I hated seeing him guard KG and Duncan.

It would be the 2004 (All Star) Lakers loss to the (who?) Pistons. Kobe thought it would be funny to keep chucking brick after brick after brick after brick.. The Pistons were the underdog against a team that featured FOUR future Hall of Famers and a Hall of Fame Coach, and NEARLY got swept.

The Pistons were the better team. (they still are)

For me it is the Celtics getting swept in 02-03 by the Nets. I still can't believe people were hard on Ainge for blowing up that team they lost a game by 53 in the regular season they were obviously not that good.

Maybe Karl Malone shouldn't have come to the Lakers... bad stuff just seems to happen in the most critical moments of a game whenever he's around.

... The "Flu Game" in 1997 where he made some terrible decisions down the final stretch of the 4th quarter.

... The classic finals moment where Mike strips the ball from him in the final minute of the game.

... The Lakers give one of their worst finals performances in franchise history vs the Pistons in 2003-2004.

Mavs Warriors is the first one that comes to mind.

+1.

Up 3 games to 1 and he says "it feels good to be in the second round." Needless to say, we lost the series in 7.

WHY would you possibly pick the Cavs/Spurs series? Spurs were by far the favorites, and besides one game, Cleveland never lost too horribly. The Cavs were never supposed to even make the finals last year.

You'd pick an underdog Cavs team as a bigger embarrassment than a #1 seeded Mavs team losing to #8 Golden State. Alrighty....

For me it's Lakers vs Detroit 2004. I was 100% sure that Lakers wins. I even rooted Detroit to get into finals because i thought we can sweep them and Indiana is tougher opponent.

Warriors and Mavericks?

Worst playoffs team in the West knocked out one of the best regular season teams ever.

I must be honest but I saw that coming even before the playoffs even started. Don Nelson used to coach that team and he knew the team inside out, not only that Dallas don't play well against bigger guards either. Harris and Terry both were 6 foot 3 Davis and Richardson 6 foot 5 and 6 foot 6.

Regular season does matter though re: Golden State/Dallas.

The Magic losing the the Pistons after TMac's comments has to be up there.

And you can add any Memphis playoff series, since they always get swept.

In some cases it does and doesn't, but just saying it flat out doesn't at all is idiotic.

So many to choose from -

2007 Dallas-Golden State
Pistons over Lakers in 2004
Tmac commenting on advancing to the next round vs. Detroit
Houston over San Antonio in 1995 - Rodman: "Pete Chilcutt is my ticket to the NBA Finals"
Houston sweeping Orlando in 1994
Denver over Seattle in 1994
Golden State beating San Antonio in 1991
These are the opinions of one lifelong Spurs fan, nothing more
