LOL

This is Kobe + James numbers.

That along with a stellar 100% from the field. We have all seen dominance before, but this is taking it to a new level.

The 118-92 trouncing of the Knicks was big news in Poland because rookie Marcin Gortat, the 7-footer who had been on the Magic's inactive list for 59 of their first 61 games, made his regular-season debut in the closing minutes and spun past Eddy Curry for a layup on his first field-goal attempt.

"I was just praying for them to take a (large enough) lead that I could get into the game and just touch the ball," said Gortat, who estimated he received 20 phone messages from people back home immediately after the game. "And when (Van Gundy) came to me and grabbed my arm, I said, 'This is it.' That's what I was working 61 games for -- getting ready for this day."

Gortat sat next to assistant coach Patrick Ewing for most of the game and said he paid attention to what the former Knicks great had to tell Dwight Howard about how to be most effective against Curry.

"I came in and had so much energy and so much adrenalin that I had a lot of confidence," he said.

Gortat is the only native of Poland currently playing in the NBA and the third in league history.

gortat looked like a backup big in that game... we dont need someone to come in and take over the game we just need someone to come in and be active on d and on the glass.... i dont see why they couldnt see if he can be more effective than foyle in some situations.

we just need a backup big that can get 4-5 rebs a game and make like one bucket a night... why cant gortat be that guy?
Summertime and the livin's easy....

Because Gortat's production far exceeds those expectations.

How long did he play?
Was the outcome of the game decided already by then?
Weren't these comments also made about Augustine?

you are correct he only played two minutes... but in those two mins. in a game that was already decided he looked fluid and smooth... auggie seems to have concrete hands when he plays... but the comments might have been made by others about him...

no i pose a question to you ... what does foyle do that earns him those backup center mins. ?

He's not trying to learn and figure out the game while the game is actually being played.

Foyle is physical and knows how to play in the NBA. His problem is his lack of ability and mobility. Still, he can put down the hammer if needed.

Gortat too raw at this point.

Said it also in the game thread - his per48 rebounding numbers from tonight is about 75.

Foyle brings toughness and defense. I like Foyle as long as he isn't shooting.

I don't know where you get the idea I see things different than you...

I also don't know how old are you and what papers you read (if any) couple of years ago, but hype surrounding Trybanski and Lampe was the same if not bigger.

You may get the feeling media pay more attention to Gortat just beacause he's much more media friendly than those two and knows what PR is about

Agreed, he's really trying hard to be media friendly: even last summer with his miniblog during SL, interviews etc. He seems a bit smarter than a lot of euroscrubs coming into the L (or staying away like Fran).

But his per48 numbers are through the roof!! They put D12's numbers to shame.

BTW Soul, you must be an awesome talent evaluator/scout. In 3 minutes of garbage time you're able to make such a sweeping evaluation of his abilities.

I like Gortat. He seems very apreciative of the opportunity and looks like he is working his butt off in practice. He has also taken over the Magic cheerleader role from Bo Outlaw. He is always aplauding and enthusiastic.

To me he seems bigger, stronger, more athletic than Auggie. As the season winds down i hope the coaching staff gives him a chance with decent minutes to see if we could use him in the playoffs. The Magic need more blowout wins.
