:sigh:

For the nth time, a "system" quarterback means that the system is inflating your reputation based on stats, but that the team doesn't really miss you when you're gone because you're easily replaceable. Steve Nash won the MVP not based on stats but on the difference he made on the team's effectiveness. There is no room for debate, Steve Nash is not a system player.

Now, Nash is obviously more valuable in his current role than he would be in other roles, but at most that's a criticism on his versatility.

By that same token, since Amare has been moved to power forward specifically because he was hurting the team defensively at center, I don't know if he's any more of a lock than Yao is.

Haha. Look at that Magic homer, trying to squeeze in Dwight somehow. Get lost.

Get real kid Dwight has better numbers than both KG and Duncan never mind the fact that both of them are forwards and Dwight is a center.

Mr. Savage wrote:The really interesting question is who will make the 1st team.

Kobe and KG are locks, but then then the race is wide open. I would have said Yao, but for obvious reasons he is out of contention.

Guards could be Manu, Paul, Deron Williams, T-Mac, Ray Allen, Nash.

Forwards could be Lebron, Boozer, Dirk, Amare, Pierce.

And at Center we have either Duncan or Dwight.

If I had to pick, it would be

Kobe
T-Mac (If he can keep the Rockets afloat with Yao out.)
Lebron
KG
Duncan

This is your list? How is Lebron not a lock? and Tmac ahead of Paul? Stop talking now

You obviously haven't got any historical knowledge here. Duncan's never made All-NBA as a center. Howard's basically a lock to get the first team center spot.

How does TMAC not get All-NBA love if the Rockets make the playoffs? He should at least make third team.

you dont even have Nash on either list and you have Manu on the first team over MVP candidate Chris Paul?

Manu will be luck to be on the 3rd team, Duncan will be second team

No.

Paul, Baron, Williams.

Kobe, Tmac, who cares about the third best SG.

Why do people think TD is all of a sudden going on as a center? Either TD or KG is getting left of 1st team kuz D. Howard is going on as a center.

it ain't gonna make a difference to those that don't want to like him

its partially people just being blinded by their own prejudices against certain players and partially because realgm forces people to evaluate players and compare them by catergories of their game so people say, "Billups is good at offense and defense but Nash is only good at offense so Billups should be in" instead of realizing how good Nash is.

For the record, both should be it and Deron Williams and possibly Baron Davis will be near misses.

I am going to identify who I believe are the only candidates for All-NBA teams. I will list, in no order, the six best pure players at each position (PG...PF) and three centers. I do this because, hypothetically, six PGs could take up all six *G* spots, and so on. I will also cross-list any confusing players that might play two positions and not count them towards the six per position.

PG: Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Chauncey Billups, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Baron Davis, (Allen Iverson)
SG: Kobe Bryant, (Allen Iverson), Manu Ginobili, Brandon Roy, Dwyane Wade, Ray Allen/Vince Carter/Tracy McGrady [I really can't distinguish between them]
SF: Paul Pierce, Caron Butler, Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Hedo Turkoglu, (Josh Smith), (Shawn Marion), Josh Howard
PF: Kevin Garnett, (Josh Smith), Rashard Lewis, (Shawn Marion), (Amare Stoudemire), Dirk Nowitzki, (Chris Bosh), (Tim Duncan), (Pau Gasol), Antawn Jamison, Carlos Boozer, David West
C: (Amare Stoudemire), (Chris Bosh), (Tim Duncan), (Pau Gasol), Yao Ming, Dwight Howard, Al Jefferson/Marcus Camby/Chris Kaman.

I hope that clears things up. Really, the possibilities are endless and for the most part, there are ways to fit all of your favorite players into an All-NBA team.

^Having said all that, I can eliminate, due to poor record, Dwyane Wade, Vince Carter, Josh Smith, and Chris Kaman. Pau Gasol, Jason Kidd, and Shawn Marion COULD be affected by being traded to/from a poor squad.
Due to injury, I believe that Yao Ming and Caron Butler could/should be eliminated from contention.

Therefore, I give you my teams:
Paul+Bryant/James+Garnett/Howard
Williams+Iverson/Anthony+Nowitzki/Duncan
Billups+Davis/Boozer+Bosh/Stoudemire
Perhaps Stoudemire and Duncan could switch places, perhaps Nash replaces one of Billups or Davis, but more or less I believe the teams will turn out like so.

Why do so many of you have Roy and AI on your teams over guys like Baron? Their teams are out of the playoffs while Baron is leading a bunch of guards and D-Leaguers to the playoffs in the wild wild west.

Nash is the system. The offense has sputtered immensely without him the past 4 years. People who say he's a system player give too much credit to D'Antoni. Very likely 2nd team in my mind. The Hornets would have to fall hard for Nash to pass Paul.
