OT: Skydiving

Post#1 » by OrlandoMagic » Wed Mar 5, 2008 9:16 pm

Have to say I just barely went skydiving today over in Titusville. I went to a place called Sky Diving Space Center, and it was a blast. Most fun and excitment I have had in a while. I also got the video and picture package that they offer. Amazing stuff, if anyone wants to ever go I would recommend going there.

fun stuff. My first time was static line and I was so scared. We had to pretty much hang from the wing, before we got the ok to let go and fall. Ive done both (tandem is fun because it lasts longer and someone else guides you down). But static line is a rush because its all up to you, aside from opening your chute of course. For a first timer tandem is the way to go since you free fall from a higher altitude and you dont have to worry about anything. If you plan on going again try static line. With each jump you get to go higher, and eventually you get to pull your own cord. Ive never been skydiving in Florida, but I bet its a rush being able to see the ocean. All I saw was farm land :(

Yeah it really was a blast with the view of the ocean and you could see where the shuttles are launched as well. I would really like to go again, so I will have to try the static line idea. That sounds like a pretty good rush as well. The only thing is each jump is $160. I could take a course that is $1400 and that is the AFF course. After that I can jump whenever and wherever and than each jump is only $20. Guess it all depends how many more times I want to jump.

my buddy went to that same place this past Sunday (drove all the way from tampa) for his fiance's birthday

well that plane crash that happened there over the weekend ruined it as police were investigating would not let that place take people out

Ahh very true, where would you recommend water rafting? I heard NC and SC are the best locations for that.

seriously its so much better when you're afraid of heights. Dont let the fear of heights stop you from doing it. Going tandem youll be strapped to someone with 500+ jumps, so youll be as safe as possible (obviously you are jumping from a plane).

White water rafting is fun too. I did that out in Colorado. We only went on class 3 rapids though, its supposedly intermediate but it got a bit boring. Id love to go back and try a class 4 or 5.

I would go 2x. once with an instructor and once by myself. after that i'm good, no reason to test death by jumping out of a perfectly good airplane

I've also heard that Deland has a pretty well known skydiving place, anyone know about this one. I don't really trust much out of deland, let alone a program that promotes free-falling from the sky

Basically the one in Titusville is supposed to be the best around because its right over the coast and has the best views.
