The 76ers wouldn't be described as a traditional team. The latest example is that the Sixers have won seven straight second games of back-to-back sets while losing the first games 11 straight times. They're 11-1 in the last 12 second games of back-to-backs, compared to 1-11 in the corresponding first games.
The numbers defy logic. Teams are typically more tired after playing the night before and usually have either traveled home from the previous night's road game or headed on the road after playing at home. Opponents sometimes were off the night before, too.
The most recent example was Saturday's 119-114 road victory at Phoenix after falling by 22 to Golden State the night before. The Suns had been idle since Wednesday.
"I have no clue (how to explain it)," said guard/forward Andre Iguodala. "It's crazy. We might be the best team in the league in second games and the worst team in the league in first games of back-to-backs."
The Sixers have lost to teams such as the Timberwolves, Knicks, Hawks, Bucks and Kings on the first nights while beating the Rockets, Suns, Cavaliers and Raptors -- the first three on the road -- in the second games of back-to-backs.
The best Iguodala could figure was that the Sixers "come back with a vengeance whenever we lose a game."
Their next back-to-back will be Sunday at Milwaukee and Monday against visiting Boston. The next game is Friday at home against Seattle.
