Who would you guys want to face first round in the playoffs?

Post#1 » by Chubby Chaser » Thu Mar 6, 2008 8:36 am

As of right now, the seeding goes:

1. Spurs
2. Lakers 8)
3. New Orleans
4. Utah
5. Houston
6. Phoenix
7. Dallas
8. Golden State
9.Denver (1.5 GB from Golden State)

If playoffs started today we would play the Mavs. Not exactly your easy first round matchup for a high seed like 2nd. The west is so close this year that 5-8 could change on a night by night basis. So if you had a choice, who would you think would be our easiest first round matchup?

The true fan in me says that I would want to face the Suns in the first round. But I think Golden state or houston would be alot easier for us to beat and finally advance out of the first round. Thoughts?

Nothing to chose from as long as we don't face the Spurs first round. Its more or less like pick your poison though I'd face Denver if given a choice.

I think i'd rather play the warriors than Denver. I don't know, but Iverson always goes insane on us.

Warriors or Denver, i guess. I'd be okay with any. No team's going to be a cake-walk, really.

the rockets r gunna fall to either 7 8 or outta the playoffs, without yao they def SHOULD be the easiet team to beat, hopefully dont have to play spurs until western conference finals where they hopefully will be tired after first 2 rounds were lakers can really capitalize

Let the chips fall where they may. Every team in the West (playoff bound) is a good team.

If I had to choose though? - not the Spurs.

When Ariza and Bynum are healthy, this is the most versatile 2-way team in the league. So I'm not particularly worried about playing up and down against a team like the Warriors or grind it out against a team like the Rockets.

Not an easy team to face there, but I'd like the Nuggets if they manage to squeeze in. We seemed to have moped the floor with them this season. Even Iverson dropping 50 something didn't get them a W.

Out of the other teams; the Oracle seems like hell to play in in the playoffs so I wouldn't mind the Lakers avoiding that place in the 1st round. I'd have to go with the Yao-less Rockets then... I just don't think that team has what it takes to beat the Lakers in a tyring series. One or two games maybe, but not in a best out of 7 format.

Anybody. Let's just play ball...

And honestly, I don't know how hard we should try to get top seed in the west. That didn't work so good for the Mavs or the Suns.
I wouldn't mind 8th seed if it meant our guys were a little healthier.

Sooner or later, you're likely to play the best team. Every game in the playoffs is important so who cares who you play first.

For me WCF doesn't mean a thing more than the 1st round.

I'd want to play the Warriors. They have no one who can handle our size with Bynum, Gasol, LO. Bynum always killed them, and now with Gasol? They would have trouble with our size.

but i would like to beat the suns in the playoffs, so maybe them in the first round because they might not make it past that

It really wouldn't matter at all who we faced because in the Western Conference there is no upstes anymore. If I had to pick I would say Dallas or Phoenix.
