Tommy commentating on playoffs games

Post#1 » by aboubata » Thu Mar 6, 2008 1:43 pm

I am thinking marketting and fun here.

Think of Tommy with the TNT team and talking with Sir Charles about the celtics, during the playoff run.

Or think of Tommy and the other team color commentator doing a game 7 of one of the series.

It is something that has been going through my mind since people said a win last night will give us a playoff birth.

It would be nice but would never happen. I personally always wanted to hear Tommy and WWEs Jim Ross comment together. The possibilites there would be endless....

Yea, the NBA is wayyyyyy to dumb to ever do this. Why would they utilize an NBA great who has passion and knowledge of a team when the product is seen by the most people when they have quality guys like Jamal Mashburn????

Makes way to much sense...

Wait wait, another one hit me.
I don't have NBATV now, but do they still do the show about official calls (forgot the name of it).

1/2 hour show with Tommy and that head of officials guy, to replay some of the celtics calls.

Not sure why, but I think Tommy deserve to get that anger out in a physical way, and ideas keep coming to me.

Tommy used to be the go too commentator for playoff games back in the day. I wonder what happened for him to fall out of favor? I think his homer schtick is just too much for the NBA. However, I do think he could tone it down for the playoffs and would be a great addition.

True, I watched some replays of games in the 80s and he always seems to be the big game announcer. It cant happen today, I sometimes dont think he thinks before he says something. I remember earlier this year he said they should take away Turkoglus green card and last year he associated Yao with chop sticks, never mind how he threatens refs

These are three reasons why I think Tomm would be the best announcer. Seriously though, what we see/hear is Tommy's Celtics schtick. I now he is a professional and could call a balanced and unbiased game for the national media. It will never happen though because all people think of when they think of Tommy is his homerism.

Think TNT should to have Tommie & Couse vs Chuck & Kenny the "Jet" as a Reality series....talk about homerisms...

He's fair and balanced by Fox News standards. I'm all for him announcing national games!

Lol hes not fair or balanced to any standards, no call is the right call unless its for the celtics and thats the way it should be. I think fans of any other team would need to mute him out though lol
