"We know this [conference] is going to be won by one of three teams, and this is one of them," Celtics forward Kevin Garnett said after the 90-78 win over the Pistons.
The third team that Garnett was referencing was the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the Cavs haven't been a measuring stick for the Celtics the way the Pistons have.

For some reason this sentiment is all over the league...WTF

I mean i understand our backcourt is shaky and Foyle is a luckluster backup but.......To not even include us in the conversation like many people are doing, is just hilarious.
We have more strengths than we weaknesses and quite frankly there is no doubt that we can at least hang with these teams now...We arent getting blown out by either 3.

1. the pistons and the celtics are obviously better than the magic.
2. the cavaliers are not.
3. yet, the cavaliers plus the star treatment lebron is getting from the zebras are.
4. so in a sense, kg is right.
5. still, it does not mean that the magic cannot eliminate any of those three.

only 10 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists shy of yet another triple double - anonymous

i'm a little curious to see if KG really said the 3rd team was Cleveland. I'm wondering if Chris Sheridan is just assuming the 3rd team is Cleveland.
Either way I don't really care. We know we're better than Cleveland, but I wouldn't exactly call us a lock over them either. We probably won't even meet them in the playoffs unless we somehow catch Detroit in the standings and get to #2 (or if we fall to #4 and Cleveland is #5).

Even though we've had the better record all season, and are still playing well, people still never mention Orlando, it's all about Lebron and those hacks he plays with. God forbit ESPN and all the other networks give respect to little Orlando. We'll I guess the only way we'll get some kudos is when we beat them too. Ben Wallace isn't gonna stop Dwight, and Wally Szszszsszerbiak isn't gonna do a damn thing with Shard, Hedo probably gets James. We have a better overall team, but Cleveland has this one guy. Cleveland in all honesty is done in round 2 just like we'll probably be, they'll be crushed by Boston.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

I really hope KG said it. It doesn't really help us much if the stupid media people dismiss the Magic, but it helps us big time if the opposing players underestimate us. Unfortunately, I think KG is smarter than that.
I'm really excited about the feeling of our team and our coach that the Magic are peaking at the right time. According to the Sentinel, Hedo said
He's just bristling with confidence. We've showed we have a better team, a better situation. We're definitely better than 40-23; lost some games we shouldn't have.
SVG was smiling and even laughing during the game last night. He had essentially nothing to complain about!
The guys kept up the effort even after they had put the game away. If they can keep on making the guys on the end of the bench happy by blowing out the opposition, confidence can only grow.

What's the big deal?
Last time I checked Cleveland went to the finals last year. We haven't made it past the 1st round in how long?
We've got an outside shot to make it to finals. Crazier things have happened, but I think the 2nd round is the marker of a successful season for us.

Damn im so psyched for March 17 game vs. Cleveland.
That games gunna be huge...Hopefully we have a nice little win streak heading to it and carry on the momentum.
By the way Dev, Damo, Theif, you guys interested in making a season standings thread? Daily standings and results.
Saw it on the Cavs board and got the idea.

Its not a big deal, but give the Magic a little credit. They beat Boston twice, Detroit twice and are like 5 games ahead of Cleveland. They have the longest streak of 5 3pointers made in history. Orlando is a dangerous offensive team, and not taking them seriously is probably a big mistake. And if Dwight is on his game defensively, Magic rarely lose and can beat any team.

MagicalMan wrote:Well look at it from KGs view. The top two teams in the EC finals last year were Detroit and Cleveland. Its safe to conclude that a trip to the finals will have to go through one of them. Not the team that got swept out of the first round.
Not that I care, but going by that logic, Boston shouldn't be in the top three because they didn't make the playoffs last year..
