Who should we take? (A blast from the past)

My favorite part:

"No offense to Emeka," Howard said, "but offensively I can bring more to a team. I think my game, as far as what I can do with more polish, as far as I'm a lot quicker and handle the ball like a guard, I think I bring a lot to the table."

I'd love to play along and post some other things, but the search function for the forums here sucks.

Dwight was much more of a KG type player coming out of high school. Making him a back to the basket big is one of the few things Brian Hill did right.

The man is clearly an expert.

I thought Dwight was a bit cocky back then, his game was not more polished than Emeka's and he can't handle the ball like a guard, but boy am I glad we picked Dwight.

I remember that day, it was like a funeral in this forum thinking we made the wrong choice.

Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

I wanted Dwight from the moment I saw video of him and I am glad that we are not regretting the decision...quite the opposite.

i was Emeka the whole way until about 2 months before the draft...I started seeing Dwight video and I honestly thought that he would be a killer offensive player, jump shots, hook shots etc. well he hasn't done that exactly, but he is still the man, and the right pick...I will tell you that I absolutely expected Okafor to be better than Dwight for the first few seasons and I never thought that he would be the kind of player he is now, I really thought he would dominate...

wheww...

Speaking of the past, I was just wondering how the 2004/2005 team would do under SVG.

PG - Steve Francis/Jameer Nelson
SG - Cuttino Mobley/Deshawn Stevenson
SF - Grant Hill/Hedo Turkoglu/Stacy Augmon
PF - Dwight Howard/Pat Garrity/Brandon Hunter
C - Kelvin Cato/Tony Battie/Mario Kasun

This team was pretty good. Mobley never should have been traded. That seriously ruined the season.

Too bad the coach was Johnny Davis.

I thought Emeka was going to dominate too. I wanted Dwight from about 2 months before the draft as well but I seriously thought that Emeka was going to be the next Tim Duncan or Karl Malone. I never thought he would fade like he has. IDK...injuries have indeed played a part but honestly, I don't think Emeka is in the right system in Charlotte. Imagine if we could ever get Emeka and Dwight together :rocking:

Everyone on this forum knew the mobley trade was rediculous right when it happened. To this day i cant understand it.

For the record, I wanted howard. I dont remember if i posted here at the time or not, if not i was on the scout.com forums saying it.

I didn't know much about Howard or Okafor at the time, but I was more concerned about the Tmac situation. I figured if we drafted Howard, it was bye bye Tmac and if we got Okafor, we had a chance to keep Tmac. When I saw we drafted D12, I was disappointed only because we would be saying bye to Tmac.
