CF NEWS 13: Redick Bides Time On Bench For Magic

Post#1 » by Hotshot Hower » Thu Mar 6, 2008 5:37 pm

Redick has played in a couple of games, but one game was a blowout and the other was just in garbage time. However, it appears Redick has accepted his role.

"We've talked and he's made it clear that I'm not going to be in the rotation. There's nothing I can do. Right now I'm just thinking about my future and I'm working for that more so than trying to get in the rotation. I don't think I'll be here a long time. I think Stan is going to be here a long time and his philosophy and my phillosophy don't really go together," Redick told Hirozawa.

I hope he stays or Otis will look even more foolish for holding on to JJ, if JJ does in fact plan on leaving after his contract.

We've talked and he's made it clear that I'm not going to be in the rotation

Then why was he untradeable at the deadline?

It's hurts my head when I try to figure this out. I've given up. Only logical outcome that I can come up with is that Otis is saving him for summer moves.

Thats my thought exactly. Otis knows JJ might not make it into the rotation and knows he won't play, so the only way to gauge his interest/ trade value is publicly say he's not trading him and he yada yada means alot to this team, rather in reality he is expendable.

I can see a trade on Draft Night.

1. jj's philosophy vs. stan the man's philosophy, eh?
2. jj will not get very far with this cocky without grounds mindset.
only 10 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists shy of yet another triple double - anonymous

If that's really what Stan told him then Redick shouldn't even play those garbage minutes anymore. Give it to the people that need it to become a bigger part of our team..

I think if JJ is unable to work himself into the rotation at the start of next season, then he should go somewhere where he can have a chance.

I just think it's bad timing with JJ. We are a great offensive powerhouse with the ability to score over 100 points on a nightly basis without him in the lineup.

I'd love to see him get a chance, but I'd rather think longterm and I think longterm we need to keep Stan around as coach.....he has the ability to be a championship level coach in the league I think.

Me too, especially with all these constant quotes about how unhappy he is. There might not have been anything that Otis liked at the deadline, but he should definitely be used to move up in the draft. The 20's aren't going to get us anything great.

As long as we improve our team with a trade involving him ... I don't care how he does. He obviously didn't fit with SVG & the team. Same as with Ariza.

There's no way Otis can defend not considering trading JJ at the deadline if Stan won't play him.

Also, if Stan won't put him in the rotation, what incentive does he have to work hard?

Illogic FTW! :(

Stan looks bad here. Why not tell the kid to pick it up and he has a chance to play? What does he gain by telling him this? Nothing.

Otis looks far worse though, as usual.

There NEEDS to be communication between the GM and the coach. It was incompetent to not deal any expirings and now holding onto JJ, whose value is plummetting by the second is even more absurd.

Management is terrible.
"And with Dwight, he's Moses Malone at 22, Shaq at 22 and Tim Duncan.

That only makes sense if he would've traded him before the deadline after making those comments. Now he's waited too long, as usual, and J.J.'s value has plummeted because other teams know we have to trade him and our coach refuses to play him. In other words, you're giving Otis way too much credit.

I think this is a sign of a clash between GM and coach. Remember, one of the reasons B. Hill got fired is because he refused to play J.J. So Otis wants J.J. to play -- the coaches don't. Otis considers him untradeable because Otis thinks he has potential -- the coaches don't. And most importantly, if we trade J.J. Otis is 0-for-3 with first-round picks.
