Hahaha, I thought this was a joke at first. I wish he would just step down as coach and head into his team president role full time.

Yeah I found it funny also our head coach will be in a college gym watching 18 year olds while the team is still playing NBA games... maybe we can trade in our heat tickets for NCAA tourney tix that Riles will be at.

Wow a lot of you guys being really tough on Riles.. IMO we wouldnt have an NBA franchise in Miami if it wasnt for Pat Riley. So if he wants to take 2-4 games off he has every right to do so. Remember the saying " you dont know what you got until you lose it " ? Riley is the reason this franchise is relavent. Riley is the reason we have an NBA team in south florida. Riley is the MIAMI HEAT. IMO when he decides to hang it up for good he deserves to have his own statue in front of the AAA

I agree ^^^

I thought some of you Riley haters wanted him to hand over to someone else - well here someone else can have some experience without the pressure.

no, now they can bitch about Rothstein or Spoelstra's substitution patterns or calling a timeout when he shouldn't have

That's all fine and dandy, I appreciate everything he has done for this franchise but wtf does that have to do with RIGHT NOW? There's nothing wrong with wanting a senile old man to step down and focus on the role that he's better at in this stage of his career (team president). I'll never forgive him if he screws up the career of our lottery pick by doing what he usually does to young players.

We should just be thankful SVG was the coach in Wade's rookie year.

I dont get it. How can you compare D Cook and D Wright to a top 3 lotto pick ? Its obvious to me that if we land a tier college player Riley will have no problem giving him playing time. I mean I know theres a lot of Mrs Wrights and Mrs. Cooks here but please gimme a break ! Cook got benched his only college year yeah he came out playing decent but he is very inconsistent and doesnt play DEFENSE.

I actually like Riley going to scout our top pick in person, this team tuned him out months ago, everything signals to a complete roster overhaul. Why not start really beginning to tackle the future? I rather Riley be sure he makes the most informed decision he can about what likely will be the 2nd most important building block on the team.

hand it over to Spoelstra any way....

right now is a direct consequence of going for a championship. we always knew this day would come. it doesn't matter what coach you have, our team doesn't have the personnel to be any better than we are. in fact, we're in a better position to rebound to a winning team thanks to riley's wiles in dropping shaq's unpalatable contract. who do you think is going to come to the rescue as a new/better coach? skiles? riley is a genius. he certainly has flaws, but i'd rather go with his experience and killer instinct than your mr.x...

Does Riley not have a DVR?
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

IMO, this is more of 'getting away' from the team for a bit.

Is he really going to go over the decisions of Pfund, Ellisburg and our other scouts who have watched these kids "more" in the past few months, instead of 1 or 2 times Riley will get a chance to see them in the coming week or so?

Riles better don't mess up the draft. That is more important right know for the Heat. It will also give the team a new voice, and they might actually play better without Riles, and there is also the fact will probably see some better lineups. I have no idea if Riles was intentionally trying to sabotage some games, but it did look like he might be.

Riley needs to hang it up as coach this year. Yeah our players quit, but damn. Who ever heard of a coach that takes breaks in the middle of the season like Riley has the last two years?

I think Riley has proven to be quite a good GM come draft day. I'm a big fan of Wright's no matter his minor flaws. Butler and Wade are OK in my book. Riley may not be my favorite coach but he is a fantastic GM and talent evaluator.

I certainly don't think he'll mess up the draft. But if he has the number one pick, how hard is his decision really going to be?

Riley already quit on the team. No wonder marion questions the intensity of this team.
