Either Thabeet or Hibbert may well be there at 30 because they have fatal flaws in their games at this point. Who wants a slow big man who shys from contact? Who wants a big center who can't pass the ball and has a limited understanding of the game?
Obviously teams get stupid about this guys every year but with the guard talent available and the abundance of size available late in the first and early in the second (even it is a somewhat flawed). Unless they have learned to implant Moses Malone or Bill Walton's brain into either of these two guys I would say no.
We already have Scal sitting in seat number 15 we are looking for someone who can play.

Kevin Love is a starting caliber PF in the NBA and probably will be a star in time...he's Carlos Boozer's white cousin....but he'll be a lotto pick for sure when he comes out and the anchor of a team's post game...
Yeah, he and Hansbourough are underrated by the public due to their "lack of athleticism", but IMO there is no way ,as productive as they have been , they aren't going to be heavy rotation minutes guy. People overrate the guys who are already in the NBA.
As far as igs go I'm trying to make a point to keep my eyes open for undersized PF, since they are becoming the rage nowadays. Anyone seen anyone of that description, besides Hansbourough, that they like?

...this year's underrated guy is DJ White IMO...he's a 2nd round pick for sure because people see his game as that of a C and his size as a PF...but though DJ may struggle to "guard on the perimeter"-which seems to be the holy grail of eliminating a player from consideration-Whit is a beast and he works extremely hard...if healthy he'll out-produce quite a few guys ahead of him...
...down the road, the Blair kid out of Pitt looks like he'll be a great rebounding/energy big in time...less athletic Maxiell, but much better rebounder and more crafty on the inside...

it seems like this topic is evolving so i will throw a few names out there of players that could be available when we pick.
i really like Wallace from Georgetown, McNeal from Marquette and Nelson from Duke (FTs are a problem though).
although with Pruitt we really don't need any of those guys....
another that i am intrigued by is Patrick Ewing JR. i'm not really sure what to make of him as a pro, but i love how hard he plays....

What about BC's Shamari Spears? He's a 6'4 PF. He'll shoot a lot of 18 footers and get stuffed around the hoop, but he would make Sam feel better because he would no longer be the ugliest guy on the team.

He is falling but he's not going to fall that far. He's a very fundamentally sound player with good coordination and a good offensive game someone will defenitally pick him up in the teens. I think the farthest he'll drop is the late teens.

Do we have a draft thread going? I don't care nearly as much as I have in the past but the tournament is coming up and I know I seem to be watching more and more college and less and less NBA as the die is somewhat cast (I am going to poke my eyes out if I have to see another Heat game).
Frankly I don't have much interest in trying to develop a back up center, that is something you fix in FA. I think it is safe to say that the 4 and 5 spots are probably locked down for the next 4 or 5 years. We have undersized back up 4's, who are about as good as you can be at that spot. We have two young pgs so with TA in a contract year that leaves the two wing spots open I would like to see this team go after a wing with some potential late in the first.
Another way to put this is I have a man crush on Bill Walker of Kansas St. I know he has flaws in his game but I think in two or three years he could be a star. Especially with what the strength and conditioning dept. has done with guys. Another guy I am high on is Jamont Gordon of Miss St.

How about Joey Dorsey, a young athletic 4 out of Memphis. I think this team needs a good quick energy big off the bench that we can possibly develop.
I also think dealing Powe on draft day is a good move. Leon's trade value will be at it's highest and in all honesty we have seen the best this guy can be. If we can deal him with our pick on draft day to move up a couple of spots and get an athletic big or good wing prospect...it's a deal worth doing.

I like both those guys as well. Bill Walker definitely seems like a guy who will be a better NBA player than a college player. I feel like his combo of skills, athleticism, size, and hustle rarely fails in the pros. He might be a good replacement for TA if they let him walk.

He's 24, that's not young at all for a college player.

...I'm really hoping the Robin Lopez comes out this year with his brother...Robin isn't really ready to come out, but if he doesn't want to hang in college by himself he may....
Robin is a great developmental center and while I doubt he'd slip to 30, there is a chance that Boston could find a way to move up in the draft-say between 22-30...i'd hope the team could target someone in that range and obtain him...
Phx sure likes to sell their picks, maybe we can snag theirs and move up a bit...

Yea, I don't know what Joey Dorsey brings to the table that Leon Powe doesn't. Dorsey is pretty much a zero on offense, besides the occasional offensive rebound or dunk, and he's terrible from the stripe. Defensively, he's good, but not outstanding. I see him as a very poor mans Kendrick Perkins.
I think the NBA talent on Memphis is a tad overrated. I think Rose is clearly gonna be a stud PG at the next level, but besides him I don't think they have anyone close to a first round pick. CDR and Dorsey are middling second rounders IMO.

I don't think he'll be a stud by any means. He's not very athletic, coordinated or strong from what I've seen. He ust looks awkward out there on the court IMO.
wow, i cant believe how many are dissing him in this thread------he's a different type of player with tons of skills
his size will allow him to impose his will a lot
has a finese game around the rim, which is where he will be a lot; can pass the ball
he will be a steal for the one that believes in him
