Days in an NBA season

Post#1 » by grantdovey » Fri Mar 7, 2008 7:10 pm

I really do not know much about the NBA CBA and I have looked it over. But how many official days are in an NBA season, assuming players get paid by the day and when does the season officially start and officially end.

Not games, but days.

There is no set number of days in an NBA season. The season lasts from the first regular season game to the last regular season game. This year there are 170 days in the season. So regarding pay, this season a player gets 1/170 of his annual salary each day, whether it's a game day or not. If a player is suspended for one game, he loses 1/170 of his annual salary.

The season does not start or end on the same day each year. Usually it starts somewhere between Oct 30 and Nov 1. And it usually ends on a Wednesday in mid-April.
