Why does the Media Hate The Rockets?

Post#1 » by DreamShook34 » Sat Mar 8, 2008 1:18 am

I already know which streak you will pick but I've heard it numerous times today on ESPN that the 11 game win streak from SA is better than ours of 17 games. The one thing they have to say is we still haven't beaten anybody! who have the Spurs beaten in their streak? it has to be considered gross incompetence the way the media continues to slight our achievements, stats and players.

I'm all for the media doubting us but this is getting kind of ridiculous

Spurs Streak
0 back to backs
5 home games
6 away games

03/06 Indiana
03/04 New Jersey
03/02 New Jersey
03/01 Milwaukee
02/28 Dallas
02/25 Atlanta
02/23 New Orleans
02/21 Minnesota
02/19 Charlotte
02/13 Cleveland I'm giving them Cleveland...
02/11 Toronto

Rockets Streak
3 back to backs
11 home games
6 away games

03/06 Dallas
03/05 Indiana
03/02 Denver
02/29 Memphis
02/26 Washington
02/24 Chicago
02/22 New Orleans
02/21 Miami
02/19 Cleveland
02/13 Sacramento
02/11 Portland I think Portland is better than Cleveland...
02/9 Atlanta
02/7 Cleveland
02/4 Minnesota
02/2 Milwaukee
02/1 Indiana
01/29 Golden State

our wins are more impressive too we have more blow outs than they do.

I said this on the GB when some fool questioned out streak. The Spurs haven't beaten any good teams either. In fact and as you pointed out they have beaten 3. We have beaten 6. You have to count Cleveland twice b/c we played em twice.

Honestly though the disrespect is starting to get to me. Jon Barry is on TV saying "show me a quality win". This idiot doesn't know we beat NO in NO and they were on a long home win streak when we went in there and rocked em. Did he miss that. If that isn't a quality then there is no such thing as a quality win.

I know our schedule gets tougher and I know the majority of the games we have won haven't been against good competition but no team beats good teams night after night. You win your home games. You beat the teams worst than you and sprinkle in a few good wins. We have done that. If this were the Lakers it would be another story. People would be saying they can win a title. But because its Houston people are saying...'lets wait for the other shoe to drop'. It is what it is but it really starting to piss me off how night after night people go on TV and straight disrespect our winning streak.

the media loves something with a huge fanbase..... la (kobe) spurs with all their championships , celtics with all of their stars hell i see shaq on the suns get more respect than the rockets...... but just wait and see the rockets out perform everyone..... i watched around the horn 1 morning (tape delay) and only 1 out of all of the reporters mentioned the rockets and he got hounded...... the most attention the rockets got was when roger clements was sitting in on one of our games ( espn began their game summary of the rockets by saying "the rockets had their own rocket sitting in) and the rest of the speel was all the other teams highlights with a tmac throw in here and there).....known fact: media is all stupid bandwagon.....

It's the media. None of them ever have anything relevant to say about anything, they're merely entertainment(and barely that). Especially ESPN. I can't even watch SportsCenter anymore it's so terrible. Baseball Tonight used to be one of my favorite shows as well until it became "Red Sox and Yankees Tonight".

They just seem to hate Houston in general. I know the Astros never got much respect when they were winning and the Texans still get flamed for choosing Mario over those other 2 scrubs(well, after this season that's died down a bit since Mario was awesome). It's been that way for a while. One thing can fix that, and that is to keep winning. It's the same as the (Please Use More Appropriate Word) "T-Mac is a loser because he's never gotten out of the first round" nonsense. If they finally win a series, that argument will cease to exist(no matter how dumb it is to begin with).

It sucks, it's annoying, but then once you realize who it is you're listening to, you realize it doesn't matter because they're all morons anyways.
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

it's because the east coast and west coast bias both ignore texas. Also, the media loooooooooooooooooves the whole T-Mac/1st round thing, and I agree it's pretty stupid. its also stupid how most of the media ignores the rest of the team and the great play of scola, landry, etc.

Don't forget, all the "experts" predicted the Rockets would fall apart w/out Yao,so they are doing the media shuffle by changing the subject-"yes they're winning, but it's all against bad teams. As soon as they meet a good team, yada, yada, yada."

Unless LBJ, Tim Duncan, Kobe, or KG are on your team, your going to get trash talked. Especially when you have McGrady, media at times doesn't seem to fond of him, same goes for cousin Vince.

What's even more fun is hearing how much disrespect we get in general from the rest of the country, sports aside. I've never heard someone outside of houston say "oh i love that place!"

Geez I just went to St. Louis a couple times last year, what I ran into was an absolute ****hole. They had a few nice bars right by the river, but that was about it. Their roads suck. Downtown sucks. They're spread out maybe worse than we are. Did I mention it was a ****hole?

I remember one guy on ESPN gave us some love but I cant remember his name. He stated this "Am I the only one here who is impressed?"

I thought I would add that that nba.com seems to like us a good bit. They have our top plays of the streak video up right now.

This should only show people how uneducated many of the media types are. The Rockets have been left for dead by even most self-respecting commentators. Not many of them are prepared to see a successful or dare I say elite Houston team without Yao. It's a serious mindhump.

I must say I love it though.

The thing is I don't mind comments like we aren't a championship contender, or that we've never been past the first round because all of that is true, but for people trying to make excuses or not giving credit currently when it's definitely due is frustrating.

Even who we thought was our boy Jon Barry ripped us.

Yeah the title thing is a weak argument since only one team in the league will grab it but yet teams like Dallas and Phoenix get more dap despite them never coming close. That part of it sucks but it doesn't bother me. We’re strategically closer standings wise which is funny that people still deny us our due credit. I think it's just too much for some people to digest which is why everyone is pulling excuses out of their Hershey highway trying to justify this juxtaposition.

You know, another thing i cant stand about the media ...when they all say how great the spurs are and then say they are under the radar...what the hell is that about? Spurs = Great team don't get me wrong but the sports analysts try to underrate the team while at the same time hype them to no end

My whole thing is yes..people might be right. We might fall apart here pretty soon. But whereas they would focus on the 'now' with a team like the Lakers or the Cavs or some other media darling team...they focus on the future with us. Instead of acknowledging the streak as a great accomplishment like they would with some other teams..they want to focus on our upcoming schedule.

This is a great feat but media seems not to want to acknowledge the moment for us. They rather tear us down and tell people we haven't beaten anybody and that we will start losing pretty soon. All I am asking and the reason I am pissed is that these fools acknowledge us for who we are now which is a team that hasn't lost in over a month.

The Media is was is driving this streak. I think it's great that the media's negativity is powering the Rockets. I don't care what anyone thinks. The Rockets are the hottest team in the NBA right now IMO.

I can't stand the media either. But its something we should be used to by now unfortunatley! None of those dueche bags know what they are talking about. We break our own franchise record that was set by a team that had arguably the greatest center in NBA History and we still get no love. Yes San Antonio is on a nice win streak too but they are SUPPOSE to do that. They have been the best team in the league for the past decade for crying out loud! SA has beat 3 decent teams and thats because you gave them the Cavs. Well if you break down ours we beat 6. When in reality you have to say 8 games were won against quality teams because we did beat the Eastern Conference Finals Champs twice during this span.

When are people going to realize that we are for real whether we have Yao or not? The rest of the Rockets BELIEVE they are still a threat. I BELIEVE we are still a threat, and I would HOPE that the more than 60% of our fan base if not damn near all of our fan base believes the same f*cken thing!! I mean C'MON!!! Our offense finally clicked, the chemistry is GREAT, McGrady finally grew a pair (sorry T-Mac your my favorite player but ITS TIME), Scola, Landry, Battier, Alston, Mutombo and Hayes are all BRINGING IT EVERY NIGHT!! We have the most TENACIOUS defense in the league which shouldnt be a surprise to anybody!!

The Rockets dont care about the media and we shouldn't either. We all know we are the ****!!! F*ck em and lets just keep it rollin!!!

ITS TIME !!!!!

Return to Houston Rockets
