He makes 8M a year, who are we going to trade for him? Jameer isn't going anywhere. With his injury history, I'll pass. I'd take Duhon over him anyway if we were going to go that route.

The last thing we need is a midget playing point guard. He is slightly better than Nelson, so that's not saying much. We need a true vet to play point for us.

Okay some people have not watched the Raptors. TJ Ford is not barely better than Nelson. He not going to be backing up Nelson. TJ Ford before the injury was playing a shade under Chris Paul and Deron Williams. Only reason no one notices is because the minutes he was playing. Go ask the Celtics fans about TJ Ford. Go ask Phoenix, GS, Atlanta about TJ Ford.

Per 36 minutes

TJ Ford

19 PPG
9.6 apg
1.6 spg

Chris Paul per 36

20 ppg
10.5 apg
2.6 spg

Jameer Nelson per 36

who cares he not close to any of those

TJ Ford is flat out unguardable. He may be the fastest player in the league. His midrange jump shot has improved. I'm not sure Jose is better. The raps cant afford to loose Jose for nothing though. Since his salary is so small now it be very unlikely they could pull of a fair sign and trade. Meaning TJ is likely the one out.

I am not claiming the following to be true, just what a RAPTORS fan said today. I put the following on the Calderon post, too, but the threads seem to be overlapping:

There was a Raptors fan who called in to Full Court Press on NBA Radio today and basically said that Calderon is their starter now and Ford has been benched. Keep in mind, this was a fan, not a team official or even an NBA "expert.'' He said they will pay any amount of money to keep Calderon and are likely to move Ford in the offseason. In fact, he said that the Raptors lost to the Magic because Ford got selfish and insisted on taking the shot himself for nine possessions in a row at the start of the fourth quarter because he has his nose out of joint over the whole Calderon thing. I can't say I remember this one way or the other.

That wasn't all the guy had to say, by the way. He said that was the only reason that the Raptors lost to the Magic -- even without Bosh. And that the Raptors want the Magic in the playoffs because they know they can beat them, even if the Magic have home-court advantage. It was only one fan, but I assume there are more of them who believe this. Quite a bit of talking from the Raptors fan there.

man, how funny is it that we have a thread for each one of Toronto's PG's and both are in hopes of acquiring them...

I'd love TJ on this team. His pass first mentality would take this offense to another level and make Dwight into an unstoppable offensive force. The guy has lightening quickness and excellent court awareness that would be HUGE upgrades over our defunct PG position

Anyone who thinks Fords is a slight upgrade over Jameer is crazy.

Then again, we have a few delusional Raptor fans who are saying Arroyo would be as good as Calderon if he came to the Raps, so I guess both Orlando and Toronto have some crazy fans.

PERs don't matter much when you are wearing a suit 50 games a year.

Yeah but two freak accidents. Its not like he goes down with leg injuries all the time. The guy has taken some serious blows. Really if not for the first one I think he would have come back sooner from the Horford injury.

That's the concern, though. Every time he goes down, there is a greater possibility that he won't return to the game at all. He admits that he thought about it this time. This isn't an ankle injury. It's a spinal/neck condition. If he gets hit just right, the guy might not be able to function like a normal human again. And being a small point guard that has to drive to the basket to attract the attention of the defense, well, he's pretty much at risk of getting knocked to the ground every time he does that. If I were his coach and was forced to put him in that situation every night, I'd be nervous as hell.

LOL can you really call them "freak accidents" if they keep occouring? Its not like this happend once. He had one before the draft. Another in Mil. Another in Tor. It has been reported that he has a spine condition. You cant call them accidents anymore, for him they are normal.

i'm more interested in what the Bulls will do about dismantling their team. they appear in need of a few changes once they decide the direction of that team - who they'll keep, who they won't.

i notice that all their young guys are having sub-par seasons: Gordon, Deng, Hinrich.

doesn't mean i expect us to nab one, but the option might be out there.

TJ is as good as it gets at the PG position unless you are looking for a franchise type point. I can understand why you guys wouldn't go after him because of the injury risk, but some of the comments in this thread about his game are way off.

I guarantee you guys if he played in Orlando and didn't have to share minutes with a player like Jose he would be considered an all star. Finding guys open and breaking down the defense is second nature to him. His only problem is with Bosh out and him having to play with the second unit, he can look to score to often. Especially in last second situations.

I think TJ is awesome. I just do not want to roll the dice on another Grant Hill.

HELLZ NO, I hate the fact Gordon see himself as a top tier player. Any guy willing to turn down as much as he did is a fool. He is not even a starter on that crappy team. I wouldn't mind having Gordon if he was willing to be a bench player getting paid around the MLE.
