Ronny Turiaf & Sasha Vujacic (Free Agents)

Post#1 » by CB4MiamiHeat » Sat Mar 8, 2008 1:57 pm

Just curious, How much money do you expect them to demand?

Im a fan of both players..Sasha brings the shooting Miami needs, and Turiaf can hit a jumper and play interior defense. Thanks.

Nah, they're staying here due to loyalty issues ala the Udonis Haslem situation. I don't think you guys need Ronny with two young guys in Haslem and Johnson. I like seeing AJ play for you guys. He brings a sense of toughness and athletic aggressiveness to the four spot that hasn't really been shown since LO was in town.

The Machine stays with us. :D

Yea i hope the lakers keep both. Maybe sign Ronny for 4 years and Sasha for 3. And see what happens.

But im pretty sure we could make room for D-Wade.

sign and trade for Marion or Wade?

seriously, you wont get them because we also need them as much if not even more than the Heat.

this two particular players have special loyalties to the Lakers which will make it difficult for them to go anywhere else.

Sasha feels greatfull that the Lakers organization and coaches including Phil beleived in him the past 3 seasons even when he really sucked b*lls and Turiaf is greatfull because the Lakers paid for his heart surgery and went above and beyond even before he was signed as a Laker.

the Lakers really went out their way with Turiaf and Sasha so I think they will take whatever the Lakers will offer them even if they are offered more money elsewhere.

I don't think they would even think about leaving, also im sure management will give them a nice enough offer, maybe less than other places, but the chance to be part of a dynasty, priceless.

Their great roles players to have, but I don't think they would be good starters, so I predict 2nd unit type of pay.

With the Lakers going to be in serious luxury tax mode, especially after extending Bynum, I see them not using the MLE this offseason and using that money to sign Turiaf and The Machine to good deals for both sides.

I believe Turiaf is restricted, so the Lakers could match any offer. Allegedly, the Sixers would be very interested.

I see them each getting $3-$4 million year for 3-4 years. I would be devastated if we lost either.

Yes, I also agree on that they want to win, they dont want more money.

Sasha already has great enthusiasm with the Laker fan because he is.......the machine

And I dont ever see Ronny wanting to leave unless we trade him because of again loyalty. We stuck with him through his heart surgery

turiaf should be locked up
sasha i have a feeling he might get a better offer
bynum for sure will be locked up for the future
odom at this point is can we keep him or let him go, his production as of late is the best he's ever had as a laker but his contract is really going to hit us

They are both restricted from what I know. The Lakers should keep both for what they gave Cook. 3yrs 9 million

You never know. I'd like to think that they're staying. They'd probably prefer to stay on the Lakers, and the Lakers would really want to keep them, but like they say, it's a business.

But what if Sasha is offered the MLE? Certainly the guy has shown he could be one of the best shooters in the league, is a tenacious defender against guards, and has improved his driving game. But is he worth 11 million a year to Buss? That's how much it's going to cost Buss, since we're over the luxury tax.

Wouldn't Turiaf command 7-8m a year? If I were a GM, I certainly would pay him that much. I think probably 30 teams could use Turiaf. And I think the teams with some capspace would try to sign him as an affordable impact player with upside. But is he worth 15, 16m a year to Buss?

Such are the dilemmas created by the luxury tax. Perhaps Buss will keep this team together at ALL costs. I wouldn't dismiss the possibility.

This is why I argued so passionately for the Lakers to move Odom for cap relief at the trade deadline. As great as he's played, I still think we should have moved him. When Bynum comes back, the importance of another shooter is going to be magnified, and Odom's rebounding impact would decrease at small forward.

Sasha's shooting will be even more valuable when Bynum returns, we already have tens of millions invested in forwards Walton, Ariza, and Radmanovic, and Turiaf is indispensable for his toughness and skills in backing up the frontcourt.

If it came down to it, I'd rather have Sasha and Turiaf on the team than Odom, despite his superior talent.

We'll see what happens though.

funny that you bring up the luxury tax issue at this time because it seems that buss just found a way to pay for it. as of last night Laker games are no longer on basic cable in San Diego on FSW. now I have to pay for the HD converter and HD service to watch what used to be standard on cheap basic cable. the FSW channel is still part of the basic package, but they no longer show the games. that change is even reflected in the Official Lakers web site. I wonder if the same thing happened in LA.

what ever happened to the good old days when only the bastards that could afford a Lakers ticket would have to pay more whenever the Lakers needed more money. :waaa:

I would think Turiaf would be resigned very easily. I know money talks, but the support the Lakers had during his heart surgery and recovery. He also seems to have a great friendship w/ Kobe and the rest of the team. I would suspect Mitch would call Turiaf and get him re-sign shortly after midnight a la Luke Walton.

Sasha, well I'm big fan, but I think he's playing for a contract. I don't wanna offer anything too much. I guess it depends on how we do in the playoffs and what the team does with Odom and signing Bynum to a max extension.

There is no way Turiaf will get 7 or 8 million a year. He won't get more than the MLE and looking at his numbers that's a stretch. Neither him nor Sasha will get more than the mle.
