........when Gordon's jumper is flowing, watch out, he is special but when it's not, yikes.
riehldeal,
If you look at the stats between Mayo and Gordon, they're almost identical. To add to your statement, when Gordon's jumper isn't falling, he gets to the foul line. Through 29 games Gordon has attempted 252 ft's, making 215 of them. Through the same number of games Mayo has attempted 132 ft's, and made 105 of them. Eric shoots 85% to OJ's 80%.
This stat totally concurs which player is ready to play in the league from day one. At 220 pounds, Eric is a beast.

The FT statement is valid and I recognized it long ago but I still feel OJ is better suited to make an immediate impact given his ability in the other areas of the game

He was NBA ready his sophomore or junior year in high school. He was forced to go to college. He is not going at full speed right now. OJ is not about to ruin his meal ticket. I can't say I blame him. If I was in his shoes, and had family in mind, and should have already been in the L, then I wouldn't risk injury either.
I think you will see another gear from OJ in the L. OJ has played against pros, and they swear by his game. He feels he has nothing to prove until he gets to the L. Now all of this is my opinion obviously, but it is what it is. OJ could get by defenders if he wanted to I think, but why risk getting hurt when you can get and hit a 12-15 foot pull up anytime you want?
That is exactly what I have heard as well. I am very excited to see what he does in the pros.

That says something to me though. What if the team he was on was playoff bound? Would he "Not want to get hurt, so he could play in the playoffs" or try his hardest to get to the playoffs?
It's kind of ridiculous to see something like that, he shouldn't even be thinking about being hurt, he just needs to play basketball.

From what I hear the livingston injury bothered him. I believe even his coach mentioned it once.
Also the USC offense (SUC) is not suited for him.
If the puppies get the 3rd pick we grab Mayo and smile.

I don't need millions to think it's ridiculous that OJ isn't playing at his "best" because he doesn't want to get hurt. I've never heard a player say that, and I find it really odd that in the beginning of the season, his coach said OJ told him he wants to win a championship, now OJ just wants to "Stay Healthy" so he can be rich.

Ditto.....this is pointless to discuss, no truth to it, if anything, not playing 100% is what gets you hurt

There's also never been a 20 year old freshman who's been NBA ready since he was 17, who was then told he couldn't go to the NBA because of some "rule." Also consider, Tim Floyd said in an interview today, he even shortens SC practices now because they can't afford injury due to a lack of depth. Notice USC doesn't get to the line all that often. OJ plays hard, he's just avoids contact right. He"ll go to another level when workouts come around and he's in the L, IMHO.

its absolute nonsense. Come on...
Would he be taking charges if he was trying not to get hurt? Of course not.
The reason SC is shortening practices is because they have an incredibly shallow bench that they can't afford to have get hurt or tired. Actually, you will find that everywhere around the country teams are practicing less, because at this point they have their plays down, they know who they are going up against, and they don't need to risk anything.

Well regardless of whether that argument is nonsense or not (I don't believe it is), I still believe OJ will perform better in the L, be more explosive with the better spacing, be able to better use his playmaking ability and court vision, and be an better all-around player than Eric Gordon, although Gordon could be a heck of a scorer.
We'll see what happens...

Wow. Well let me clarify, the whole OJ not playing 100% is number 1. My opinion, and number 2. Not a fact. Also, I probably used a poor choice of words by saying he's not going full speed or playing 100%.
My intentions were to say that PERHAPS he doesn't get to the line or draw contact as much as a guy like Gordon because he's protecting from injury a bit. Speculation...not fact. Besides, OJ has always been known to go for a spectacular finish instead of drawing contact, ever since his HS days. That's something he'll need to work on.
Lastly, I see NO circumstance where OJ Mayo would return for a sophomore season. Even if he had an awful tourny, and poor workouts, he'd drop to the low end or out of the lottery, get on a decent team perhaps, and proceed to make the all-rookie team. NO CHANCE he comes back, in my opinion.
