I agree that Hassell could help us more on the court, but Stack's semi-expiring contract could be useful if we decide to make another move

here's my problem with avery. wright would be a solid guy at the 2 (what other options do we have? freakin eddie jones?!?!) but he rather keeps playing brickhouse. wright has done pretty well against kobe in their last meeting while playing for new jersey (according to nets fans) but avery wont let him in... I dont get it. have you heard what coach said in the pc after the laker game: kobe didnt respond to any of our defenses...WTF there was only one defensive strategy out there..freakin stackhouse with his 100year old knees trying to defend kobe lol
and kobe said after the game that this was the first game in YEARS that he got only a single coverage and he thankfully took full advantage of it.
why not give wright a chance there, avery? there was nothing to lose there

Wright's problem is his confidence. I always thought he had the talent, and at times, you'll see it when his confidence is up. Most of the time though, it's not and he plays like a chicken with his head cut off.
But wow, I never realized how bad the Mavs bench is when Stack's shots aren't going in. I might actually give the Nets bench a nod over Dallas' bench.
BTW, what the heck is up with Josh Howard?!?! Maybe the Nets and Mavs should have included a Jefferson for Howard swap also. Josh plays better with Devin, and Jefferson would make an awesome #2 with Dirk as the #1.

He's getting some early playing time this game, hopefully it carries over and eventually get the starting nod. Terry and Stack back as "sixth mens" might bolster our weak bench scoring.
Our depth is one of the biggest misnomers in the league for the last 3 years that's why if Dirk plays bad/disappears/suspended/injured it's almost always a loss.
After Howard and Terry (who are not even remotely all-star level sidekicks) there isn't really anyone to speak of. Bass? He's too inconsistent and predictable on offense although I'm really high on him. Stack? He's nowhere near the same level as 2004-06 when he was an awesome sixth man... he's just getting by reputation these days.

Agreed. I also think that Terry is living on his past rep. Hes not the same player he was in the 04-05 and 05-06 season. I think that it would be wise if we have him as 6th man again.
