Bucks new PA announcer: temporary or permanent?

Post#1 » by GrandAdmiralDan » Sun Mar 9, 2008 9:06 pm

If this was talked about on this board already, I missed it, but who is this new PA announcer and what happened to Eric Jensen? I'm not a HUGE fan of Eric Jensen, but I much prefer him to this new guy.
What's the story there? Has Eric just been sick these last two games or something? Or did they replace him?

A new PA guy is worse than Jensen? Only the Bucks could find a guy worse than Jensen who I think is one of the worst PA guys in the league. Say what you want about him following how Kohl wants him to do, but even on the B and B show where he is the freakin sports guy he doesn't know a damn thing about sports and is boring as hell.

I thought I heard a new PA announcer watching the past couple of games. I have no idea if they fired Jensen or not but this new guy sucks too.

New guy is worse. He mistook growling for announcing.

I actually don't mind at all Jensen's voice or how he does the games. I am fine with him from that aspect.
The thing I have always disliked about him as our PA announcer is that he makes so many mistakes that are the result of him not knowing enough about basketball, NBA basketball in particular.

And yes, this new guy is far worse.
I had Club 71 seats Friday vs. Portland and the majority of the time we couldn't even understand what the PA guy was saying.

That is a good way to put it. This new guy often sounds like a cross between Chewbacca and an angry African Lion

Jensen's voice is fine. It's his lack of knowledge and bland as hell attitude that I can't stand. People complain about the atmosphere at the BC all the time. Jensen doesn't help matters whatsoever. I've heard that Kohl tells Jensen to act like this, but then I listen to him on B&B and it's the same boring voice and complete lack of knowledge about any kind of sport.

Not sure if it's a permanent move or not, but the guy who's done PA for the Bucks the last 2 games is the same guy who does it for the Admirals.

He's been off the air at 103.9 most of the week too so he's probably sick.

He does the games the way they tell him to do the games (boring as hell) but I agree his lack of basketball knowledge really hurts. He doesn't have a clue what's going on.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

You would think after being the PA announcer for hundreds upon hundreds of games that you would learn a little bit about it through the course of those games. :dontknow:

I would spend our MLE next year to bring in John Mason from the Pistons...if you haven't heard him before...the man is a legend.

I agree, the new guy is brutal. Like someone said, he sounds like he's losing his voice or grunting. I'm different then most on here in regards to Eric, I don't mind him at all. I have been to many different arena's and have to say I've heard more annoying announcers then good ones.

Mason's act grows thin quickly. He's fine in small doses but I would not want him as our full time PA guy.

I understand he's not the most knowledgeable baseketball guy, but I actually like Eric. Maybe I'm old school and he in some way reminds me of the great Jack Gallo in the glorious MECCA years, but other than not really understanding some of the finer points I think he is much better than some over-caffeinated DJ type.

But I agree the guy Friday and yesterday was awful. Very hard to understand anything.

The Bucks find a way to blow at pretty much everything.
