You don't think the Magic would give more effort in the West where it's a lot harder to get into the playoffs? It's just an assumption, but honestly, the Magic are really inconsistent when it comes to effort. One game they'll be diving for loose balls because they're playing Detroit, and the other they'll slowly walk up the court, make stupid passes, and give a game away.

I don't see the same inconsistency in Celtics and Pistons. And you are right it is just an assumption and we have to go with the record which is saying Magic would miss playoff in the WC. I know it is not Magic's fault that they play in the junior league but as I said it is hard to respect a team that wouldn't be able to make playoff in the real league.

Ok, well, one way to see it would be; they cant even make playoffs in the west, they dont get respect.
And if we go by your assumption with the effort thing, its hard to respect a team that doesnt put in 100% just because theyre playing EC teams, because thats what youre assuming right? theyre just strolling along the season playing good enough ball to beat weak east teams. that definitely shouldnt deserve respect

Yeah Shame on the magic for being in the eastern conference, like they have a choice

YEah I would definately be in the west.....

I would not take not being in the playoffs and having a better shot at being in the finals

So, the gest of this thread is that you earn respect one the following ways:

1) Have consistant playoff track record.
2) Have LeBron on your team.
3) Be a large market team that the media want to talk about but happen to not fit the other 2 categories. (Lakers, Celtics)

Respect for what? Their .500 record against the west? Not having won anything of significance?

Florida Today -
The Orlando Magic have dominated the Southwest division, but they don't feel they have gotten any respect this season, according to Florida Today.

"A lot of the talk is about Boston and Detroit and even Cleveland some, but we want to try and make our statement come playoff time," Magic forward Rashard Lewis said. "Go ahead and sleep on us, label us as underdogs, and we'll be the team to surprise you in the playoffs."

Orlando is the only team in the NBA to beat both the Pistons and Celtics twice this season.

I haven't really followed the magics this season, so i don't got much of a comment other than Rashard making billions of dollars every year.

Wow, this thread is rediculous.... people are now posting comments to sound whitty or smart... But the fact of the matter is all Shard said was pretty much, the magic will prove why they deserve respect...Not give it to them now...Also, The whole thing about the Magic not making the playoffs in the west..What about the Lebron's? I mean the Cavs.... All I'm saying it the Magic are 40-24 and would be on the bubble in the west, not to mention the Cavs who get a TON more attention and are one of the " top 3" in the East are 36-27 and would have NO chance of playing the the playoffs....I mean REALLY?

All the Magic want is their "earner" respect, by their record, the respect they want is to be one of the top 3 in the east, which right now they well deserve..

Also, these comments were made the day of or the day before the GSW game..

Why? Cause we beat Orlando last time we played them? Cause you guys have a dominating 2-1 series lead with one of those wins being decided at the last second?

Please.. enlighten me.

Or wait.. maybe because you can't argue my point?

I win.

And let me clarify.. I believe the Magic would beat Philly in a playoff series, but I think you are overconfident for no reason.. wishing for us in a matchup.

I'm not going to get too off topic, but it was mainly just because you've been dogging on the Magic a lot and I'd like for them to beat the dog feces out of the Sixers in the post season.

It has nothing to do with record or match ups, even though I do believe we match up best with them.

Anywho, back on track. Rashard is overpaid, Dwight has 0 post moves, and Jameer is a midget.
