Outside fans take on Monta Ellis and his game.
I'm just curious on what other fans think of Monta Ellis. Prior to the start of the season, I predicted he will be the W's X-factor and so far I'm right. He hasn't extended his range to 3pt shot but he's on a tear on the midrange game.

Yeah, same can be said for alot of players, Nash comes to mind.
Monte has really impressed me this year and is playing great. I've watched multiple GS games and he has single handily saved them on some occasions. He is almost unstoppable in the open court and amazes me the more I watch him. He is under appreciated for the Warriors success this year and last IMO.

here is my honest opinion, first of all i never liked under sized SGs no matter how good they are, second hes playing for a contract (but we shouldn't hold that against him), other than that hes really good.

Must be true, if it's a rumor you read on Hoopshype.

I might be a little biased considering I live in the Bay and have seen pretty much every Warriors game, but Monta Ellis is a STUD.
He's got a terrific face up jumpshot from 15-18 feet and I'd even be willing to argue that he's got the best mid-range game in the entire league right now. He's a superb open-court player with that quickness and one of the best finishers in the league. He's been handling the ball much more this season and does a good job of not turning it over (under 2 TO's a game) and is a surprisingly good rebounder averaging near 5 a game.
What I love about him the most is that he's been very consistent and efficient this season (54% is ridiculous). He'll IMO easily finish the season averaging over 20 ppg and has over 25 ppg potential IMHO.

no just AI
It doesn't get any more undersized than him, so I see why.

I'm actually the other way around and tend to appreciate them more than hate on them. Maybe it's because I'm about the same size as AI and have played basketball with much bigger people and I can tell you it doesn't work for me

I don't get why he can't make 3 pointers, I think if he just chucked one or two up a couple of game even if they weren't high percentage shots it would allow him an easier way to the basket because he could atleast pretend he would shoot a 3.
I think GSW is going to give him an insane contract though, and it will screw up the make-up of the team. I think GSW should pull a sign-and-trade with Ellis. Someone will Rashard Lewis him, and be willing to give him an almost max contract.

You don't have a comfort zone? I was playing ball in a HS gym today, and I could stroke a 3 comfortably. Then I tried from 3 feet back, about an NBA 3, and it just felt all out of whack. I felt I lost a lot of accuracy on the shot... no doubt in my mind its the same for Tay. When he shoots 3s, he doesnt miss strong or short. He misses L/R, which means its just a bit too far for him now.
As a W's fan, I think Ellis can be as successful in other systems as well. The Celtics forced us to play a halfcourt game and really focused on stopping Monta - and all that did was make his game evolve and show what he could do as the #1 option. He's a Tony Parker with a better stroke and finish, but less distributing abilities. He's being eased into the PG role and it looks like a fit too.

Honestly, I didnt read the whole post here.
Ask W's fans who the most important player on the team is... I guarantee almost half of them will say Monta. They'll pony up, Tay is far too important to consider trading.

Good player and his game is very underrated. Just a gifted scorer. I would say his height is a big question mark but it seems that its becoming normal to see combo guards, like Monta, in this league. Time will only tell what this kid can really do. If he keeps improving, he'll have a good career.

If Monta shot 3's, there wouldn't be anyone else doing anything else on the Warriors

Stop hounding him about the 3's. Eventually he'll get there. Let's not forget that this kid jumped straight out of HS and should be a junior in college right now. Monta comes back every season with improvement. This year was his midrange game. It's nearly impossible to stop. Just give him time and his game will evole, the kids only a pup.

Extremely quick guard. Good shooter, excellent scorer, great athlete, strong pesky defender, makes big shots.
Scorers mentality, undersized.
My main concern for him would be, can he stay durable throughout his career? Is he going to stay this good for long, or will he be like a Steve Francis and fade away when his speed and athleticism start to diminish.

On no, I'm not at all. I was just saying/kidding that Monta is the only one who doesn't jack up 10 3's a game on the entire team. Monta actually helps stop the 3 point barash when everyone is off and not hitting by taking it to the hole or taking a high percentage shot. He balances out the team with his play. If Monta took 3's as much as everydone else, they woudn't be near as balanced, just a do or die team with the 3 even more than they are now.
