In a rumor less logical than the Ron Artest rumblings a few months back, the New York posts Stephon Marbury could be sporting a Pistons' jersey in the near future.

Stephon Marbury was on bench, perhaps scouting his next club. Detroit is a logical destination if he gets bought out because Marbury and coach Flip Saunders get along. Marbury and Saunders hung out for 10 minutes in the trainer's room of the Detroit locker room after the game. ... Before the game in the hallway, Thomas and Marbury exchanged a hearty handshake. Interesting. Flip Saunders didn't say anything about Marbury to lend support to the Post's assertion.

Much of the reason for the tailspin is traced to Marbury's decision to go AWOL in November, when Thomas planned to bench him. Saunders, whom Marbury often praises, offered his experience in dealing with Marbury. "Steph's the kind of guy, you've got to kick him in the ass," Saunders said. "You can't give him any leeway. If you give him any leeway, he takes it. But he usually responds to anyone that is hard on him and he wants you to be a straight shooter. That's how I dealt with him as far as being up-front and straight with him and being on his ass."

This would be a great fit. He is a natural team leader, and would easily accept coming off the bench.
