Can we beat the Lakers???

Post#1 » by Rocketz973 » Mon Mar 10, 2008 5:49 pm

Quick note: Rockets #1 in NBA.com power ranking released today.

I have a roommate thats a Laker fan. We argue all the time about the Lakers and the Rockets. His obvious punchline is the popular "has T-mac been out the first round?" I counter that with how well we've been playing and the fact that if we do see the Lakers in the playoffs its a win. I honestly believe we can beat a team like the Lakers in a seven game series. Am I wrong? Biased opinion or not, I think we can match up with ANY team if we continue to play the way we've been.

What do you guys think?

As for your question, I have no idea. But as far as the T-Mac line, one to counter with is "Kobe hasn't been out of the first round without Shaq"

I think we can beat the Lakers, but we have keep playing like we have, obviously if the Kings can beat them, then we can to.

We need Landry, Scola, and Williams to be at the top of their game up front. Mutombo should wear down Gasol, Odom, Turiaf, and Bynum if he comes back. Then let Williams switch up and play the 5. Infact we can mix and match the 5/4 with Scola, Mutombo, Landry, Hayes and Williams. The Lakers have some useless lumber in Mihm and Mbenga but Mbenga is ready to play unlike Mihm. Problem is we also got to worry about Bynum if he comes back. Damn the Lakers and their trees.

Kings have beaten the Spurs and Mavs so with that logic you guys can beat them too.

Don't kid yourselves, your streak is impressive but look at the quality of team's you've played. Once your streak is snapped, then you guys will fall back to reality. Without Yao your not getting out of the West and theres no chance in hell you can beat the lakers or spurs in a 7 game series. a Pau/bynum/Lo in the front court in the postseason will demolish your team, then we have that guy called Kobe bryant in the back court. Our bench/coaching staff is better as well.

See you guys next week though :-)

If Bynum comes back healthy and in the same form he was in earlier in the season, then yeah. But reports say he ain't back till April. So how many months off is that? It'd be unlikely, especially for a big man, that anyone taking so much time off, recovering from a serious injury, would be %100 in time for the playoffs.

Alright, I guess this is a reasonable point since he's really really good, but he's easily containable. All Battier has to do is hit the rat-faced punk's pinky.

Yup, should be a good game. T-Mac Kobe head2head should be fun stuff.
