Available PF's in 08 Draft
Kevin Love
DJ White
Andrew Ogilvy
Joey Dorsey
T. Hansbrough
This crop should be there when the Sixers are slotted at 16, 17 or 18.... Doubtful that Darrel Arthur slips, though I'd be thrilled if he did.
Does anyone here excite you? It's March Madness! When the Jeff Greens of the world exceed the Thaddeus Youngs in drafters' eyes. Now's when players' stocks begin to really rise or fall.
IMO Ogilvy looked great today for Vandy. He's becoming my sleeper, but he's too much like Jason Smith. I know Kevin Love's a controversial figure in draft circles, but I'd be very happy with Love at 16 or 17. It would remind me of Sean Williams falling into Stefanski's lap last year at 17.
If the Sixers DO in fact, DRAFT, Kevin Love's my best case scenario right now if he comes out.... Considering we're officially outta the Beasely/Brook Lopez sweepstakes. Has anyone seen DeVon Hardin (CAL) or Jason Thompson (Rider) play? I haven't.
Barring trade....at 16 or 17.....Who do you love?

I don't claim to know a lot about college players, but IMO, Hansborough and Dorsey will NOT last in the NBA. Hansborough may cut it as a bench player, but Dorsey has a HUGE fouling problem.
Kevin Love is a risky pick because his athleticism is average at best. Not to mention his presence would take away (most likely) from our athletic pressure D.
Idk anything about White or Oglivy.

Agreed on Hansborough. Probably a Mark Madsen clone, but you never know. Didn't realize that about Dorsey. That's a concern. But I think whoever gets him in the second round is stealing. Larceny.

That's exactly what people around the league are saying. But his rebounding and outlet-passing could ignite breaks... And he's only 19 yrs old! Great basketball IQ. Good post-moves. Physical... Pretty sweet value for pick 16 or 17 IMO.

DJ White is a 4-year senior banger at Indiana. People will be frightened by his age, but that reasoning has proven faulty by the likes of Michael Redd.
Andrew Ogilvy is a stronger, hungrier, better, more active version of Jason Smith.... Also, only a Freshman at 19 years old. Check him out next time Vanderbilt plays.

Depends on who comes out...Mayo said yesterday he's coming back next season, which would pull one more player away from the Sixers draft position.
I wasn't a big fan of Love, but watching him more this past week, he really does have a presence on the floor, and appears to be legitimately 6'10". The other guys you mention make sense there as well, except Dorsey and Arthur who think are later picks (25+). I haven't seen Randolph play, but Koufos would be another big man I would consider.

I haven't watched a whole lot of Ogilvy (as the draft approaches I'll have to go back and watch some more), but from what I have seen of him, I'm not too impressed. He is tougher, and does a good job establishing position in the post, but I don't think he's going to be effective down there in the pro's. He has the same problem as Jason Smith (low release point), he isn't very athletic (MUCH less athletic than Smith), doesn't look to be over 6'10", and while he wants to play in the post, he doesn't have great strength.
I wouldn't project him as a starting center, but I could be wrong.

I think that if Love does come out he goes much higher than the draft sites are predicting, doubtful he'd be available mid to late first. From what I read Darrell Arthur is slipping on a lot of draft boards. Richard Hendrix from Alabama and JJ hickson from NC State are also possibilities for the 15-18 range in the draft.
My view at 15-18 is that there are always useful players and one or two very good players left. Unless we trade up, I say take the best player regardless of position. If its close between two players I think taking a PF, C or PG makes sense over a wing-man. But if a very good wing-man slips, like Michael Finley years ago for example, you jump on him. It's always better to get more talent, especially going into a summer when your team is likely to be active in trades and free agency.
My best guess is that we either trade up in this draft or move the pick in a package or for another player. There are a lot of teams looking to rebuild this year and wanting to collect draft choices, plus we can alway buy back into the bottom of the first for a developmental player. I could see moving the pick for someone like Marcus Williams from NJ or Kyle Lowry from Memphis. Narducci prominently mentioned Chris Wilcox in his blog today, and since Narducci is often a mouthpiece for trial balloons for the Sixers, don't be too surprised if our pick and a player aren't packaged for him.

Love and Hansbrough will not come out. I think from what I've heard about Hansbrough, he likes being the man in NC and comes from a fairly well off family so a payday may not be so urgent for him. I have to agree that Love will not come out if he's projected low.
Hickson I've heard good things about him. He's just on a bad team so a lot of teams double team him.

I would love for us to get Love.

If we draft around 16. I prefer Jason Thompson as my number 1 pick. I would take Love if Thompson is gone. Thompson has a super game,as I have witnessed. I do not think Wilcox is worthy of that trade.
I would like to see the 76ers acquire more picks in this draft, since I like off guards Shan Foster and Sonny Weems on round 2 if we had a 2nd round pick. Please, no Darrell Arthur.I saw him play 12 times this year.He is just a good college player, but that is where it ends.He is not tough enough to be a big factor at PF in the NBA. I do not see anything special about his game.Do not be surprised if he goes 18th in this draft, or even lower.

I am all for Ibaka
Just saw some of the clips of him from this season i think... He looks alot stronger then the videos i saw in the past. Also noticed him dunking alot harder then he used to. I am starting to think that this guy is going to go top 10 once the GMs get to see him.
