Too much time on my hands...thinking of a team where the Sixers could move into a top pick. Memphis has made crazy decisions, maybe they'd make one more. Swap their #1 for the Sixers '08 and 2 future #1s (however that works out) and then complete the trade below. Would get the Sixers into the top 5 (probably) where they can add one more high end piece (Lopez/Jordan). Use the cap space this off season to get a big like Biedrens or Okafor (similar to Sam's production).

Gives Memphis 3 pieces and 3 more picks, while off loading Darko. Probably not enough incentive, but they saw incentive in moving Gasol for nothing, so who knows.

Yes, but the net gain in the scenerio would be a comparable center to Sam (Biedrens/Okafor) and a top pick in the draft. There's no doubt Sam is much better than Darko, it's a scenerio to get a high end draft pick. Not going to happen...just throwing it against the wall, and watching it slide rather quickly.

Reading that trade with Memphis made me throw up in my mouth a little bit.

Fresh off today's RotoWorld.com wire:

"(Elton) Brand can opt out and become an unrestricted free agent this summer, but word on the street is that he's not going to opt out and will play out the final year of his contract in L.A. next season. That would suggest he has nothing to prove by returning this season, unless the stories about him staying with the Clippers are inaccurate."

Further evidence that a big name PF may only come via trade.

Now with Sam's attitude problem, do you guys believe my trade possibility now?

Trading anyone (probably outside of Thad) is a possibility. My scenerio was using Sam, young players and multiple picks to get the Grizzlies #1 this season plus some lesser players to match up dollars...strictly to get Beasley/Rose/Lopez.

I think your scenerio doesn't work b/c Okafor is a FA. Think of other teams that are close, but maybe could use a center like Sam...Toronto? Orlando? Dallas? Atlanta? There are probably teams out there that would be willing to deal for Sam, but the trade has to make sense, and you can't leave the Sixers with a huge hole in the middle.

This is questionable as I think AB has been a little bit of a bust, but sign Okafor, and move Sam for Bargnani + whatever?? Okafor as the center and Bargnani as the PF is a move that changes the complexion and production at the PF spot without losing anything at the center spot. Who knows what deals may come up in the off season, but I don't think Sam, or pretty much anyone else, is untouchable this off season.

Sam can only be traded if we have a center as good or better to replace him.

More on how Elton Brand isn't going anywhere:

"I'm not one to just up and leave a situation," he said. "I'm not a quitter. I owe it to the fans. I owe it to Coach [Mike Dunleavy]. He's out there coaching every single play."
