I read up on it, they anesthetize him in an outpatient setting then blast his knee with superpowerful shockwaves, like what they do with kidney stones. It is supposed to increase blood flow and reduce inflammation to the knees and tendons. He won't be able to do weight bearing exercise for 4 weeks, but can ride a bike or go in a pool. He'll have all of March, April, May, June to relax until camp starts in July and the Olympics in August. Having him practice against the best of the best will be great for him.

Sounds great.

I still would of like to see Wade play a couple more games.
But I guess is time, I just don't like Wade skipping part of the season, so he could go play with LeBron and Kobe. It seems like he thinks playing for team USA is more important than the Heat.

If he skips the Olympics, I would of being happier.

What? I don't get it. The guy didn't want to shut it down, like someone said earlier, he wanted to finish "as a unit", though he would listen to team advice, and I guess the team doctors told him what is best for him, and he took that route.

He is doing this for the better of the franchise and himself. This team is not going anywhere with a 70% Wade, though a 70% Wade is better than anyone on our roster. He's already made it clear to us that he wants to be part of the team's future and success. Well, we need him at 100% for us to be successful again.

And with all that time he will have to rest his body after the surgery, if he's able to go to the Olympics and begin his training against the best players in the NBA, then that's a bonus for us.

Though if he decides to shut it down for the Olympics too, then I understand that too.

I think it is more important. Wade benefits us nothing apart from maybe building some chemistry with Marion/Banks, but at this point he's not the Wade were used to or hope to have next year, so they won't be getting a proper read on him. He can either keep playing, hurting our chance at more ping pong balls, and further risking injury, or get himself right with a lot rest, before getting back into shape for next season, scrimmaging against and defending the best players in the world, both in scrimmage against other USA players (Kobe etc) or in the Olympics themselves in international play, and get back to playing meaningful games with a playoff atmosphere, but only having to do a month of so of it before getting a bit more rest before the season. It's far more important to do it this way IMO, especially if he's actually hurting.

Well, time for Wade to forget about this season and work out and improve his game, add some more moves to the arsenal, improve his shooting and ball handling and have a great return next year.

Hopefully he can prove he can play a full season and get back to being one of the top 5 players in the league.

This is a smart move to prevent him from getting injured, let him rest up the surgically repaired body parts, etc.

Gonna be so hilarious if we end up with like the 4th pick or something. No Beasley, Rose, or even Gordon. Actually its a good chance we do since the league likes to punish really bad teams.

I was just thinking about this. Thankfully the lowest a team can drop is 3 spots. Gordon, Bayless, Thabeet, Mayo, Randolph, Lopez, etc. will all still be available though.

if we were to fall to #3 (and that would suck on many hundreds of levels)...i would personally love to see us get Jerryd Bayless, that kid can really ball... great scorer, improving playmaker.

id take Mayo also. I just think he has more upside and with wade that would be a deadly combo.. I must admit i am prob being very biased and havent seen much of Bayless but in Riley I trust and anyone he picks up would be fine with me.

I doubt he'd be willing to pass up the $$ he's going to get.
