Give it up for Ray Allen

Post#1 » by John Locke » Tue Mar 11, 2008 1:38 pm

He does his stuff with such style and grace. Plays with flair. Glides on the court.

His shooting stroke is like a beautiful painting. It's art. He is elegant. He is ready to sacrifice. He is a true Celtic.

He gives us swagger. He gives us confidence. He is clutch. He stretches the floor, sees the court. Passes well. Does his job. Can even defend extremely well.

Fantastic player.

A franchise player.

Lets show him some love.

No one loves ray more than me. I was in school with him. But, this is a little too much man love for my liking.

It didn't matter much last night because the game was in hand most of the way, but I think the team should've concentrated more on getting shots for KG, and Ray especially. 36 minutes and only 12 shots with him shooting the way he was shouldn't happen. You gotta ride the hot hands.

It's funny how there have been alot of topics in this forum about would the Celtics be better without Ray Allen and yet most people are saying Pierce is having his best season ever.

Yet their seasons are almost the same as far as productivity.

Pierce 20.3 pts, 5.3 reb, 4.6 assists, .450 FG, .395 3PT, .844 FT
Allen 18.4 pts 4.0 reb, 3.1 assists, .444 FG, .402 3PT, .904 FT

Pierce is a little better but not much difference.

Be thankful the Celtics have both of them.

The main reason people are saying Pierce is having one of his best seasons is because of his defense. He's had better statistical seasons, but this year he's put it all together.

Ray Allen is probably playing the best defense of his life. Both Pierce & Allen have stepped it up in that area.

Like I said before, be thankful the Celtics have both of them.

Ray is the least appreciated player on this team!

We have threads about trading him for players like Richardson every other week. We have some fans who believe it would be better to have Wally+West+5th pick on this team than Allen...

Idiocy, all of it!

He is the best shooter in the game and is one of few players in the league who raise their game substantially in the playoffs...

We should be delighted to have him! I know I am!

Believe me, I absolutely do appreciate having Allen on the team and think he is definitely undervalued by a lot of fans. I'm just saying it doesn't make sense to compare the stats when you're talking about Pierce having his best year. Ray Allen is playing better defense this year, but Pierce is playing great defense and should be considered for the all-defensive team.

Hahaha, whoever thinks this is an idiot. For one, KG would not have agreed to be traded to Boston if Ray was not there. Then where would you be? KG did in fact tell the management he wouldn't play in Boston when the first trade offer was made, which was before the trade for Ray. Once Ray was aboard, KG reconsidered.

Celtics probably have 8 less wins if Ray Allen isn't on this team.

True dat. I've been lobbying (amongst friends) that Paul should be an all-defensive first team member. He has been absolutely fantastic and should get the recognition he deserves.

Ray plays like some old-school player, sorta John Hav-style, smooth, efficient, a plus defender, the occaisional elbow in Rip's neck when it's warranted, yeah, I like him a lot. Gush.

What about the rumor where Ray is not happy being a 3rd option?

As if Ray would say that....

this guy is gold for us. the reason why we get a lot of easy shots inside is because of him. no one would dare to take a step back from him coz he's money from outside. he also does a great job of running through screens that would eventually open him up or the other players on our offense. he knows his role, and is sacrificing like how kg sacrifices on the rebound stat sheet to play team defense.

Ray is doing what is expected of him (offense) and more (defense). He's anything but a liability on the team.

Mad props to Ray.

Ray Allen is a pimp! He is so smoooooth, he rains on beaches!

There's no other player I'd rather, attempting a game-winning shot at the end of regulation, or at the line when ft's are needed. Ice-water in the veins.

In the off-season though, he needs to rest those ankles. He should come visit your homeland John, I've heard there's healing powers in those hot springs. Get the man some blood pudding too!
