Why the Celtics will eventually win Chapionship?

We have 30 teams in NBA and a lot of times we can say in the begining of the season who can win the chapionship. We know that max. 5 teams can go all the way.

This year we had a group of:
Boston
Detroit
San Antonio
Dallas

And that is it...ok things changed during the season, so maybe we can add only Lakers to the mix now.

It is all about 4 things as I see it:
- Consistency (players playing together for long time)
- Good coach
- Stars+deep bench
- Defense
- Character of the players

Lets look at Detroit:
- same players playing together for years
- playing good defense
- playing smart, making no turnovers
- same starting 5 for years (minus Wallace)
- role players on bench

We could find out the same things for San Antonio+ great coach they have. Dallas is on the right way, but lacks experience and also has great coach. Lakers are on the rise, also have great coach.

And that is it...on the other hand Phoenix looks good every year but we all know that with run and gun style they had no chance to go all the way.

And here we have Boston:
- We have a great team
- Great character
- role players
- we play defense

...we are not consistent yet, becouse it is our first season and we dont have the best coach.

It is all a question of time, but for sure we have the right players, and the quality on big3 is extra plus looking the Celtics. We will go all the way, if not this year, next or the year after.

It is really a joy watching good team play good smart basketball.

Yeah, I think we do have a great shot at the championship and you made some good points, but the real reason I think we can win it all is our 2-headed monsters of Powe and Baby.

Obviously the Big 3 is the reason we'll get there, but in the playoffs, guys like Powe and Baby are the difference makers. I love how they battle for every rebound, play within themselves, and play hard D. While Posey gets most of the credit for the success of our bench, deservedly, but those 2 second rounders are going to give us the toughness we'll need in playoff series against elite teams.

I'm so excited about this team that I'm actually nervous about the letdown. At the start of the season, I said, I'd be satisfied with the ECF appearance, but now I don't know if I'll be satisfied unless we win it all.

As long as we stay healthy, we have the highest probability out of all teams.

The FA signings of Sam and PJ were the icing on the cake.

You guys have no chance IMO. You're probably just a good regular season team. We'll see in the playoffs though. I'm a sixers fan and I would rather face you guys in the playoffs than Detroit. They have way more experience than yo guys and are very experienced in the playoffs

Experience? Were not a bunch of 20 year olds. Facts are facts, everything the experts said so far has been a load of crap.

Good for you. It's not like the Sixers will even lose any of the 4 games by less than 20 whether they play the Pistons or the Celtics in the first round.

Wouldn't you rather get a lottery pick than lose interest by middle of 2nd quarter of game 3, when it will be painfully obvious the Sixers are getting swept?

why did they trade korver?

they can't shoot free throws.
they can't hit threes.

how in the world did those players come together as a team, when most can't shoot to save their lives?

all they have is athleticism. so do DLeague Teams.

But why are we talking about Philli? I traded Young for Thornton so I no long have interest in the 76ers.

Mahoney brings up the point I was going to make and the OP did not list a requirements for a title. And that is health. A lack of injuries will not win you a title but injuries can certainly cost you a title.

Look at Houston. They are on a 19 game winning streek and are not contenders because they don't have Yao. If Yao were playing I think they'd be listed with the contenders.

It stinks that a GM can put together a good team but a twisted ankle or torn ab can derail an entire season.

Wow! Good one lololol. Well you see last year there were a lot of injuries and young players on the team. If Pierce wasn't out a lot they probably would have finished with a better record than the 76ers.

I'm reluctant to say that PJ Brown and Sam Cassell will put us over the top. I expect them to make solid additions as assistant coaches and lockerroom presences, and help to make sure we stay focused. It will be helpful to have Cassell as a back-up option when Rondo is on the bench, but I don't really think they are talented enough relevant to what we already had to put us over the top.

Now, if Rondo keeps playing like he's been playing, and Perk keeps healthy and keeps playing like he's been playing the past week, and PP steps his game up like he has done in playoffs past - that can put us over the top.

I agree with this part and would include the owners as well. The irony is many (especially in the national media, cough Steven A. Smith, cough :nonono:

) thought Danny Ainge ( :bowdown:

) should have been fired last season.

I don't know, but PJ's been battling when he's in there. I think he really can make a contribution in the playoffs against opposing centers as a back up to Perk when height doesn't allow Powe and Baby to be effective.

I am not into this eventually bit - I think we should aim for this year. Our guys only get older after this year and I don't know what we can really do to boost the team beyond what we have now..
