I'm gonna have to disagree with you... he's kind doing both. He's injured and you can see it in his game so I'm not going to lay too much blame on him but he can't stay in front of his man so our front court players are always covering for him which leads to big men being open. He's also slow on his rotations which is probably because of his foot.
smabie, I think Marv gets more time as backup PF than you are giving him credit for. Smith plays 35.5 minutes a night and Horford 31.5 = 67 minutes out of a possible 96 frontcourt minutes. Zaza takes up half of the remaining minutes and Marv seems to take up a good chunk of the final 14 minutes. Since he is a bad rebounder, shotblocker, and post defender, I think this hurts us quite a bit.

I'm not saying Bibby isn't responsible for his fair share, but I'm saying others are playing poorly on the defensive end as well. Childress has to be the worst at leaving his man.
