Bandwagon fans piss me off
i have noticed very recently that the Sixers "fanbase" has grown dramatically. The Wachovia center was sold out for the first time all season last night. Where did all these new "fans" come from? We don't want or need fairweather fans in the real world or on realgm. It is annoying and I'm sick of it. I went to a game about 2 months ago and the stadium was bearly half full. Now everybody loves the sixers again? Come on.

you might need to lighten up a bit - this is the way of the world and the status quo for every major sports team. Rarely do fans want to pay that kind of money to see us get torched night in and night out.
I know of a few DIE HARD fans on this board who gave up their season tickets about a year ago, the casual fans with less commitment have even les tolerance of losing team.
I personally dont live in Philly anymore so whenever i am there - i try to go but it is still really expensive.

Why do people pay to see a losing product?
Quite frankly, it only makes sense that more fans attend games when the team is winning.
I have only been to two sixers games in my life.
When we're in a position to contend next year, and I attend a game, does that make me a bandwagon fan? No. It just means that I happened to go to a Sixers game on that particular night.
How do you know these "bandwagon fans" don't watch the Sixers' games on Comcast? How do you know if some of these fans didn't have the money to attend Sixers' games at one point? You don't.
Lighten up, the world doesn't revolve around you.

Its hard to get upset that people don't want to pay hard earned money to watch a crappy team. I don't think it makes you a band-wagon fan to only if pay to see games when the team is actually playing well. If your favorite author puts out a crummy book, do you read the whole thing just because you don't want to be a bandwagon fan?

They've always been there. Just because they're not paying their hard earned money to see a subpar product doesn't mean they still don't follow the team and root for the team.

Dammit! You beat me too it..
But seriously, I don't blame people. Why would I want to spend 50 dollars per ticket (just for the nosebleeds) just to watch them lose? Complete and utter waste of money and time.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the irony in this thread. Either way, I'm glad to see new fans gaining interest in this team. While I like the guys who have been posting here over the past couple of rough years, it's nice to read some new opinions. No need to be angry about this.

As a true Philadelphia fan I was born to suffer.
I might have to stop watching in a couple of years if it looks like we are going to be a contender, because you know what will happen next will be painful.
Seriously, if people want to jump on when our team is still under 500 they should be welcomed aboard. We're still at least a year away from being the type of team that piques the interest of casual fans.

I don't see any reason to push away new fans. I gets old looking at the same people all the time. Fresh blood is nothing to turn your nose up at. It's not like we are the Lakers or Boston and having new fans jump on every single day or anything. Welcome new posters new fans or fans getting back into the team. The casual fan wasn't going to care about this team no star not playing well. So now that they are winning more games and the young players are playing an exciting brand of basketball will draw them in. Hopefully we make the splash most of us want this summer to get a star player on this team and up up we go.

Yea,well win or loose I support the sixers, but I am also realistic and the sixers were looking like a poor franchise. Getting rid of Billy King was the best thing this team has done, he would of kept korver and his horrible contract. Ever since they been playing better without Korver developing young players like Young,Carney. Especially Young, just Imagine years from now how good of duo that will be with Young/Igoudala on the perimeter.
These Sixers have been playing well and to their strengths of running and gunning and dunking ball better than any other team. Were not out of the woods of mediocority yet were still a 7th seed team which is more then I expected, thought no playoffs for sure.
I have always liked the core the sixers had in Iggy,Lou Will,Thad Young and Dalembert is finally showing some consitency averaging a double-double this year and he can get better hes been developing offense and has been on a tear recently. Andre Miller sets up the young players and has been good veteran we have needed for awhile.
How can you blame 76ers fans for not believing after all these years of frustration in barkley era,a.i era hopefully sixers don't make stupid finacial decisons otherwise it will be just like those other eras mediocorness. Im not compltey sold but 76ers for what they got are playing very well.

I have been supporting this team ever since we lost to the Indiana Pacers 4 games to 2 in the semis back in 2000
Oldschool.
Just because I joined here 2 weeks ago does not make me a bandwagoner.
And just because they weren't shelling out money to see a 3-9 team doesn't make the a bandwagoner.
As has been said many times, not going to games does not equate to being a bandwagon fans.

LOL! Seriously man... going back to the Pacers series is straight up old school. I can't fault him though because for all I know, he's 16 and started following the team when he was 8.
Either way, bragging about following this team back to 2000 isn't going to mean much in this forum considering there are plenty of fans, myself included, that go back to watching this franchise in the '80's.

I think age has a lot to do with it. In the 80's some of us were 5-10 yrs old or less.
