Yet ANOTHER reason why Deron Williams is my favorite player

Post#1 » by xstockholmsyndromex » Tue Mar 11, 2008 4:19 pm

I was listening to 1320 KFAN on my way into work this morning, and they were playing a clip from a recent interview with Carlos Boozer. They were talking to Boozer about a dunk Harpring had during the Clippers game.....they were laughing about how Harpring had a break away dunk and afterwards he was jogging back down the court with a huge grin on his face, looking straight at D-Will. They asked Boozer what that was all about.....

Boozer explained that Deron and Harpring have an agreement....for every DUNK that Harpring makes, D-Will will give him $20.00...... I can just picture D-Will calling Harp out in practice (in a playful way) and telling him that he would give him $20.00 if he makes his dunks... I just thought that was too AWESOME!!

They were then asking Boozer to give Memo $20.00 for each hard foul he makes in the middle that takes someone down, and Boozer made the comment "Heck, we might have to give him $100.00 if he'll do that." :D

Yah Boler spoke about that on that Clippers game... I guess people in the team know that Okur is a Marshmemo.

I thought it would be Memo paying Boozer the $100 for each hard foul.

Fouls:

[1] Carlos Boozer - 235
[1] Mikki Moore - 235
[3] Amare Stoudamire - 227
[4] Danny Granger - 221
[5] Al Horford - 217

He also leads the league I believe with 7 DQs through the year, and has had 3 Technical fouls. Boozer knows a thing or two about fouling. BTW... memo is ranked 20th and tied with Baron Davis with 194 fouls.

ya boozer leads the league in fouls but you have to remember how often he just shoves someone in the back and that his fouls are weak most of the time like that foul on amare in the last few minutes on friday.

Deron's a freakin awesome dude off the court, and on the court. I don't usually have a favorite player, but Deron's doin it for me right now.

Maybe Deron is tired of having potential assists waisted on Harpring's blown layups.....

Your stats are nice, but the discussion is HARD fouls. 90% of those fouls you listed for Boozer are from him getting beat, or being lazy with his effort on defense so he just makes stupid fouls. Boozer is extremely soft defensively, so he shouldn't be making any jokes about Memo and his softness.

As for the Deron/Harpring bet. Anyone see it tonight? Matt Harpring went to the other end for a fast break, dunked it, then on his way back down the court gave a glare to Deron who was on the bench. A few moments later during a break in play, Deron stood up smiling and said "I hate you" to Harpring. Hilarious.

Exactly my point. Not only Boozer opens the doors to layups, but also what he calls defense is fouling and giving the three point play to anyone who wills to face Boozer.

Boozer doesn't provide any defensive stop for all the many attacks on the floor. Look at Charlie Venezuela [SIC] (See more about Booner and his brotherhood in mental disability pamphlet) how many times he went for the basket, and not only got fouled, but was able to make the basket too without much opposition. He should not be captain again I repeat.

Why I showed the foul list is to go against the grain of stockholm's suggestion that the Jazz should foul more. Jazz are 10th in defense in the league. But if you look at San Antonio, they rank 3rd in Defense, yet they rank 30th in fouls committed. The Jazz all the way to the other side of the spectrum.

Poor defense leads to inconsistency.

Where did stockholm say the Jazz should foul more???

The only topic at hand I see here is hard fouls. I for one think the Jazz need more hard fouls. Sends a message to the other team to think twice before entering the paint. Nobody is saying the Jazz should foul more. We're just saying we'd like to see more hard fouls from Memo, and especially Boozer who shouldn't even be joking about that about Memo.

If you are gonna foul, better foul hard and not give up three point chance opportunities, I agree with you that you should foul hard.

But even better, I would like them to make them have difficult shots, not go for the swipe. I would like them to make them go for jumpshots. I would like Boozer or Okur to identify the penetration, and like Battier or Pryzbilia, step in, and take the charge.

Has anyone noticed that Boozer and Okur de-stifle their defense like they are sitting on the toilet while being on the paint. We should have Kirilenko get a reverse lipo, and a botox and perhaps they might actually start looking after each other.

I think that's awesome, but didn't some NFL players get in trouble for something similiar. Like $50 for a sack or some random incentive. Like some legal nerds said it was a salary cap violation?
