Should Wade get 3rd team honors now that he's done ?

Post#1 » by Jules Winnfield » Tue Mar 11, 2008 9:15 pm

Should D-Wade still get 3rd team now that he's done for the season and if not, who do we replace him with?

The consensus earlier this season was that Wade was 3rd team ALL NBA.

I vote no. He should have spent more time healing than playing badly. Plus, the NBA frowns upon rewarding players from losing teams.

Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Wade should get no recognition of any sort for this season. This year definitely hurt his legacy or anything resembling a legacy that he's built up to this point. All his commercials are just laughable now. He'd be lucky to make Smush Parker's "FAV 5" let alone trying to make Charles Barkley's.

I'd go with:

1st team : Kobe, Paul
2nd team: McGrady, Nash
3rd team: Manu, Billups

Wade doesn't deserve it.

He barely got 3rd team last year leading the league in PER. Team records are a huge factor in this, along with total games played. No real chance he gets it.

First
C Howard
F Garnett
F James
G Kobe
G Paul

Second
C Stoudemire
F Duncan
F Nowitzki
G McGrady
G Nash

Third
C Yao
F Boozer
F Pierce? Bosh?
G Manu
G Billups

That's about how mine would look--but yeah, "leading" a team to 10 wins 18 months after winning the ring doesn't qualify you for all-NBA recognition. Especially given the amount of media/advertising inundation we get about Wade.

STILL? If he played the rest of the season and got 3rd team All-NBA, then it would've been ridiculous.

I haven't had him on the 3rd team this season. When he's healthy he should usually make it, but not this season.

Wade making the 3rd team would be a huge disrespect against Manu IMO.

I think Duncan should be First Team as Center. Dwight had a crazy start but he slowed down as his points, rebounds, and blocks dropped and Duncan and the Spurs been playing amazing now after their annual coasting to the All-Star break.
