Agreed. Look at Portland and Cleveland in the 90s. Great teams that never got by Jordan.
I think we can win it this year but SA scares the hell out of me.

I thought only one team can go all the way.

I also think the NBA game is a bit dirty. In that if the refs don't believe in you - your probably not going to win. If the C's come up short this year the perception will be they aren't quite good enough. If that becomes the perception it would be hard to overcome withouth dumping a member of the big 3.

What? If you play well enough and beat the other teams, you will win. Please stop all this trash about conspiracy BS. Are you already preparing excuses for if we lose? What if we win it all? Is Stern giving us a title to bring in more revenue to the league by handing one of the marquee teams a championship or is that impossible since Stern wants NBA to lose money? Or maybe Stern knows that Pete is a Celtic fan and wants to screw you personally.

How pathetic can you get?

yawn.

It's not any conspiracy - save your straw man rant for someone else. Refs base calls on REPUTATION. If the C's have the reputation of a top team they get more calls and hence have a much better chance of winning.

It's not "pre-determined" but the refs are human beings and teams they think should win often do if the games are close. If the C's have an aura of greatness it's alot easier to win future championships.

Heck MJ pushed off on a championship winning shot.

(From Mike Mathis retired ref).

"Refereeing has gone downhill," said Mathis, who runs the Mathis Foundation that works with and supplies scholarships for foster kids in Cincinnati. "Remember when Jordan hit that winning shot? I'm going to give you exactly what the commentators said: 'What a great move by Michael.' Was that a great move or was that an offensive foul? There was no question it was a push-off. No buts about it. The only buts you can have is, 'Well, it was Michael Jordan.' That was a defining moment.

You want to win - you get the stars. The stars get the respect. Your team gets respect and your far more likely to win.

So if the C's get the repuation of being not quite good enough - then they face a much harder road. That's in part why it's such a godsend that we got KG. He gives the C's instant respect.

Pete, how often do you think the Jordan thing is called an offensive foul in the NBA? 50%? Maybe. So what makes you think a ref will call that?

The refs have the tendency to let the game play out at the end and that's what happened. If Jordan had elbowed Russell in the face, then it would have been called. You gotta know the situation and circumstances. There is no such a thing as absolute.

If we play well enough, it doesn't matter who we have. We'll win. How do you think first time champions become champs? When Detroit beat LA, they were considered the inferior team going against 3 time champs. Now it's Detroit who has that respect.

You have to earn your respect. Not just cry and bitch for people to give it to you.
