No way the Heat would do that. I honestly don't see any scenario where the Heat would trade the first pick to the Pistons.

I hope the Heat get the #4 pick. It's awfully brazen to go around talking about how you might trade it before you have it.

I am sure the Heat would want an all star type player in return or a younger player with the potential to be an all star in the near future.

For reference the Sonics traded Ray Allen for the 5th pick and the Warriors traded Jason Richardson for the 8th pick. I doubt the first pick this year goes for less then that.

I am sure most Heat fans would laugh at this offer.

I expect a trade with Atlanta or Minnesota, if they get the first pick and still want to parlay it into three players. Both of those teams have enough young talent to make it worthwhile. Otherwise, trading away for veterans/unremarkable young players could spell disaster.

calm down man, every one in this thread prettty much agrees that its a bad trade for the Heat.

Im sure Riley is looking for an established all-star if he trades the 1st pick. If he wants Detroit as trade partners hed probably want 1 of Tayshaun/Billups/Rip/Rasheed.

I assume Miami would consider trading Beasley to get some players who are developed enough to help them compete right now, but still young enough to have some upside. A big part of this would be to encourage Marion to re-sign. Like others, I simply cannot see why Miami would be interested in the Detroit deal proposed by the OP, it's just not fair value at all.
I don't really see Miami dealing the pick, but if they did, maybe it would be something along the lines of:

Portland: LMA + Jarret Jack + Sergio Rodriguez + Pryzbilla
for
Miami: Beasley + 2nd

LMA would work in Miami if they're planning to keep Marion. Marion and Beasley are both combo forwards - maybe they're worrying about overlapping game? LMA would give Miami better size at the 4. Jack and Pryzbilla fill huge holes at the 1 and the 5. They also get Sergio, who is not great right now, but has tons of upside (a high risk/high reward kind of prospect).
For Portland, they get a player with more potential than LMA in Beasley, and Pryzbilla and Jack are not so needed with Oden coming back, and they could package their 1st round pick with Miami's extremely high 2nd round pick to trade up from the 12ish range to the 8ish range, so they can select Augustin.

I think this would be decent value for Beasley (LMA on his own is not TOO far off), and it works for Portland too, giving them a very nice lineup of:

Blake/Augustin
Roy/Fernandez
Webster/Jones
Beasley/Outlaw
Oden/Frye

Well, to be fair, the Pistons would be worse off after the trade, too. Which is why Joe Dumars wouldn't accept it either.

I ask three questions:
1) What player would your team select with the #1 pick?
2) What trade package would you offer Miami?
and 3) Would either team accept/decline, and is that a smart decision?

It will cost a ton to move up and get Bealsey or Rose. A lot more than your offer.

This trade doesnt even get a word unless it is centered around Prince and/or Stuckey. Wade and Stuckey in the backcourt with Prince Marion and FA pickup in the frontcourt. They are definately getting a Pick too.

But Detroit will now have Beasley learning his inside/outside game from the best in the business- Rasheed Wallace. Then with Maxiel, Johnson or Mcdysse up front would work.
