Thank the Lord Otis traded Ariza!
Ariza and his broken foot is not healing very fast and now HoopsWorld is reporting that the Lakers most likely will not see him until the end of the season if that.
Last year Ariza was the Magic's problem with his injured leg this year he is that Lakers problem.
The Magic got the better end of that deal with a healthy Evans and Cook.

Semi-OT: If you're put on hold when you call the Magic (407.89.MAGIC) there's an Ariza highlight still on the wait message... It's a real shame about Ariza & his injury woes... I still hope he can bounce back and all the players involved are in better playing situations because of the trade. Truly a win-win trade IMO.

Very True, ESPN and all the websites and ALOT OF PEOPLE ON HERE said we were robbed, Now i see most have changed there tune. I was just happy when cook came in and i didnt have 2 see garrity in the game anymore, That made it a win for me from day 1drsd wrote:But let us recall that when this trade was made, fans and the media blasted GM Smith.
Very, very few people found the upside to this trade.
Recall that the trade waiver was used for Evans, so Ariza was actually traded for Cook.
Lakers' fans were at the time of this trade VERY low on Cook's play.

Yea, this is just another smart move by otis in hindsight. i didn't like the trade either, but maybe Ariza just has too many injury problems. Still i feel bad like we betrayed him so he's in so much disaray that he broke his foot. I still want him on my team lol, he's on my franchise in 2K
Whether you think you CAN or you think you CAN'T, you're right.

"The Magic wanted another shooter to stretch the defense, so it took on the Lakers' Brian Cook, no fan of Phil Jackson, and gave up Trevor Ariza, who, despite being only 22, is a physical wreck waiting to happen. The whispers out of Orlando are that the ex-Knick has structural foot problems that will eventually catch up with him."

Oh NO! Otis screwed up big time. He should have traded Battie. who WILL be out for the entire regular and post season. Obviously He will have no use when he returns just as Ariza won't who should be back for the post season.
Logic alert! Logic alert! Danger Will Robinson. Danger!
If a player gets injured and is scheduled to return healthy this post-season it makes him less valuable than a player who won't.
You guys never cease to crack me up Wade should have been traded because he's injured now. Arenas should be traded because he is injured now. A player getting injured for a few months means we won a trade for years to come.
Clearly your logic is superior.

Hey if we could get a quality starting player for Tony in return, then that should be something that we should have looked into.

Maginno, I'm curious, do you consider yourself a fan of the Magic? It would be so depressing for me if I was a fan of a team, but constantly focused on the downsides of the organization. While I agree with you that the Magic have made mistakes, most people use sports as an escape from stress. It would seem that your following of this team only causes you grief. Unless you are really excited about the Magic, but choose to only play devil's advocate here on the boards.
This isn't an attempt at a dig or burn or insult or whatever you want to call it, I am just curious.

I don't get your argument. you think we should not have traded Ariza and instead traded Battie?? why?

at the 2 guard considering our guards? - starting isn't that big of a deal. care to comment on how a player being injured for a few months means you won the trade for years to come? eh. Of course not.
