The soft playoff failures on the Celtcs aren't franchise players.

Celtics are a lot closer to the Cavs/Pistons level then they are to the Spurs level

Um, I think it's the other way around. The Celtics have already beaten the Spurs this season WITHOUT Garnett. We'll see how they fair with Garnett on Monday. Everyone forgets that the Celtics have been the best defensive team in the league since the first game of the year. Defense wins championships not one guy trying to take over a game. That and the Celtics are great at getting to the line in crunch time which is another important component to winning playoff basketball.

As a Celtics fan I would much rather play Cleveland than Orlando just from the fact the C's match up better with the Cavs. Either way they're going to have to play a really good team in the 2nd round. Even in the east you have to beat several good teams to advance. No series is going to be easy to win.

and the cavs swept the spurs in regular season last year plus they were a top 5 D throughout the year, and we all know how that ended.

Yeah, they also weren't nearly as good which is why the Celtics have as many wins as they did last season with 20 unplayed games...

you're comparing a perenial championship favorite whose core has been together for a while with a mix and match of "franchise" players who barely got to the second rounds respectively?

boston needs to prove themselves in the playoffs before we crown their ass

I'm not "crowning" anything. The Cavs did well last year but they were the second best team in the east during the regular season and beat a team that had 3 more regular season wins than them. Its not like it was a huge upset.

I'm also comparing the Spurs defense to the Celtics defense. The Cs are as good on D as the Spurs were last year... Lebron couldn't score against the Spurs.

I never said the Celtics were the best team in the league, just better than the Cavs... which is true... because they win a lot more.

.

and he could against the celtics 33-12-9 and 38-13-4

so how again is the Cs D as good as the Spurs last year? There is nothing suggesting that they will step it up in the playoffs like the Spurs.

Lebron dropped 35 points on the Spurs last season in the reg... he couldn't get more than 25 in the finals and didn't shoot over 50% once. He shot 29% in the most recent game with KG back.

The Cs D is as good as the Spurs last season because they are the best in the league at keeping team's shooting % and point totals down.

As a Hawks fan I hope we face Orlando because I don't want to face either.
But if I had to choose I'd actually face Detroit.

They are more battle tested but Boston is so hungry right now.

We've also had some much closer games with Detroit than Boston who has blown us out.

So "going down with injury" for the Pacers now means not missing a game? No my bad Jermaine missed part of a game, and the Pacers won it. Then promptly returned and got booted out of the playoffs. It also ignores the fact the Pistons were already leading the series when he got hurt, and he was guarded by Rasheed who had been injured since the Nets series. Also lol at Tinsley being the Pacer's best you could make the case he was the 4th best player on that team, you were reaching there

On the Heat, the best team is the one with the ring. If you choke you have no right to the claim, the only people that argue that are generally the teams that lose. No shame in losing to the champion.

Thats a looser mentality. You lost and just because its to the champs means nothing. The Mavericks don't feel good because they lost to the champs. Why should the Pistons. My point stays the same. You play one good team then loose or struggle and then claim status as a elite .

I'm just stating the fact. You can dismiss it but I've yet to see anything that suggest my original post was wrong. Jermaine O'neal and Tinsley were injured for that series. In a series that close could have been the determining factor to whom wins it. You can't call Wade slightly injured when he missed a freakin elimation game.
On last year, hell I'm not going to defend them last year.
Besides we aren't arguing are the Pistons the best team in the league, we're arguing are they overrated. Let me ask you is saying they will make the conference finals and being competitive against the Celtics overrating them? Cause that's the ceiling most experts are giving them.

The Pistons year end and year out have a pretty easy road to the CF. What they do from there is most important. If you ask me if the Pistons do nothing but beat up on a first round opponent and the Magic in the second round only to loose handily to the Celtics would I call them overrated. Flat out Yes.
