They definitely don't wanna see the Cavs. LeBron's friends can win their home games. And LeBron proved last year he can steal a game in Detriot all by himself.

The #1 seed is cursed? Why doesn't Boston tank the next 6 games so Detroit can catch up, then? They'd have MUCH improved odds of winning the ECF if they were the second seed, right!?

Flawed logic. It's just as bad as saying that the Pistons would be better off not having home-court advantage in the ECF or Finals because they have a stellar road record. It's absurd.

I can understand not wanting a higher seed in order to avoid a team in the first or second round that simply has your team's number, but forgoing home court advantage or a higher seed due to superstition (and it really amounts to nothing more than that), is foolish.

^Truth right there except that imo you always play as hard as you can and hope to win every game. If you want to be a champion, having to face LeBron shouldn't scare you.

Sure the #1 seeds have faltered as of late but how long can that really last? I don't put much stock in that at all.

As a Magic fan I know for a matter of fact that the Pistons would rather face the Magic than the Cavs anytime

I've been accused of being a LBJ hater, but let's be serious here LBJ alone is too much for the Raptors to handle. He has a habit of killing the Raps everytime the two teams play.

Why is it assumed Toronto can't beat Cleveland? The Cavs will rightfully be favoured, but this isn't like the Hawks against the Celtics.

This whole argument assumes that the Magic finish 3rd, the Cavs 4th, and that both the Magic and the Cavs win their first round matchups. If, for example, all of the above happens, but the Magic lose in the first round, then the Cavs would play the #2 seed in the 2nd round.
Too many maybes, the Pistons would want the #1 seed if they could get it.

I dont think Detroit has what it takes to beat either Boston or Cleveland. They arn't as mentally tough as they were when Brown was their coach, and Flip isn't well known for playoff success. He often fails to make adjustments early in playoffs series and his teams cant recover in time. Detroit doesn't have the star power of Cleveland or Boston so it take every1 on the same page to make adjustments. The one team Detroit definately wants to avoid is Cleveland, they have no answer for LeBron and The Cavs defense is as good as anyone's. I expect Detroit to remain as the 2nd seed and to beat Orlando in the second round in 6 games.

The ECC will be decided in the second round when the Cavs face the Celtics.

No they wouldn't. The Pistons would play the 6th seed that beat the Magic and Celtics would play the Cavs still. Its a tournament bracket, it doesn't shift because a lower seed looses.

For example: In 05-06: Denver lost to the Clippers who were the 6th seed and Dallas was the 4th seed and beat Memphis the 5th seed. The Suns who were the 2nd seed played the Clippers and San Antonio played Dallas. So if the Magic lose, the Pistons just play the 6th seed instead.
