What would you give for Miami's pick?
Obviously, Riley has closed the door on this season. All they can hope for is to lose all remaining games so they get their best shot at the number one pick. Sad, but true. Wade is done for the season.
Per wiretap, Riley might consider trading his pick. So, assuming that they would land the number one pick,
What player would you be willing to give up?
What player do you think he'd want?
What filler would we accept to make the salaries work?
With a top first round pick, whom would you draft?
Discuss!

Realistically looking at the future, we have some nice young talent once Kobe hangs 'em up.
I was dissapointed to see Critt go b/c I thought he and Bynum were our future. At this point we are left with Bynum as our future (Farmar may surprise me and become an All-Star type of point, but Im just not sure he has it in him at this point).
That being said, I would give up anything short of Kobe/Pau/Bynum. I guess that means we have absolutely NO shot at getting the pick from Miami.
Beasley is a beast, and will be an absolute stud, not to mention Gordon, Rose, Mayo, and even KLove (I am high on him even though scouts may not be) are great consolation picks.

I agree. Give me Mark Blount, Ricky Davis and the Top 3 for Lamar Odom. It makes us deeper and gives us a scoring option off the bench to run with the Bench Mob.
PG - Derek Fisher/Jordan Farmar/Sasha Vujacic
SG - Kobe Bryant/Ricky Davis/Coby Karl
SF - Michael Beasley/Trevor Ariza/Luke Walton
PF - Pau Gasol/Ronny Turiaf/Vladimir Radmanovic
C - Andrew Bynum/Mark Blount/DJ Mbenga

the lakers won't give anything that the heat would want imo, although in theory, if bynum comes back strong and the heat have the no. 1 pick - gasol may be offerred purely for financial reasons.
but in principle - i don't think a deal is there.
imo, riley is thinking brand (and maggette ?) - assuming he gets the rights to beasly.

Good post, EE, I think there's a chance considering Riley's special relationship with Lamar Odom.
Just a few years ago, a young Wade, developing Butler and Odom went to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Wade, Marion, and Odom could do more than that.
If the Heat are trying to play uptempo, a good idea if they're keeping Marion, Odom could be a key acquisition for them by taking some ballhandling pressure off Wade. Odom's versatility benefits the Heat a lot because of their weaknesses in the frontcourt and point guard. He can cover a lot of their needs in one player.
Including a guy like Turiaf would immediately greenlight the deal, not that the Lakers would do that. But if Turiaf fields significant offers in the offseason, perhaps more than Buss would like to pay due to the luxury tax, it would make sense to sign and trade him to get something back, rather than lose him for nothing.
I would avoid Beasley for the same reasons Riley might be willing to trade the pick - perhaps a bad attitude and no defense, major red flags.
Those combo guards look tasty though, especially Bayless and I've got a soft spot for OJ Mayo's shooting and defensive abilities.

don't see us doing anything with it. Still really young team, can't see us trying to develop anybody else. Bynum still has ways to go, as does Ariza if he wants to be around for a while. Just waste of money to throw at a high 1st round pick, rather use the money to sign role players. Hell I'd say to trade our 2nds as well, I would rather bring over our boy Sun Yue. I was always interested in the guy that Orlando drafted but decided to stay in Spain, Fran Vasquez, maybe we can try to get him through Gasol. I am all for getting guys and letting them develop overseas, great stragedy.

I'd be happy staying put and then overpaying for Turiaf. But this is worth considering. Mayo would be quite something... This team would be very dangerous for a long time with him and Bynum locked down as our future one-two punch.
I'd say Odom's playoffs performance will be what dictates if we'll consider it or not.
How's Mayo doing, by the way? Living up to the hype? I've watched him a little bit and that guy has the eye of the tiger like few others do...

Riley can have B-scott along with Lamar.EHL wrote:Lamar, but Riley wouldn't trade for him if it's just him. A 3rd team would have to be involved most likely.
