As long as he keeps his feet our from under Kobe's....

As for the earlier comment about Hoopshype....they just report what other sites are reporting and provide links. Saying hoopshype is crap is like saying google is crap because one of their links was inaccurate.

Ariza would be kind of a serious loss for you guys.. he's like nobody else on the team as a big energetic athlete and defender.

I think Newble would be a good pick-up, big SF, tough, experienced, can shoot the three, rebounds, hustles.

Kobe needs help on the perimeter defensively.

I never really liked him and never understood when people say he is a guy who can shutdown a player at times.

I say get him...but Kobe doesn't have a good history with him...he twisted his ankle once, when he landed on him grabbing a rebound...I say we need al the defense we can get.

I would pay good money to watch a footsies contest between Odom and Newble.

If he can be the enforcer on the team, sign him. if not, then still sign him....I dont pay the bills.... sign em all.... too much finess-ness on this team anyway

I guess lakers do miss Kwame Brown ...at least a tiny little bit.

Maybe Newble should karate-kick Luke Walton in the mouf like that. That outa get him to start playing the way we know he can play!!

the rumor was reported by hoopshype which means that it has a -10% chance of happening.

I remember Newble being at leasta big successful in bothering Kobe in some LA/CLE matchups, which is better than most can do.

Given he's a neutral locker room prescence at worst, I dont see why it would be a bad signing with Ariza's uncertainty.

everyone believes ariza and bynum will return. but theres no actual assurance of that.

with those 2 gone, we need 1 back. and this might spell out the fact that those 2 might NOT come back.

WRONG. It was reported by LA Times and hoopshype just quoted it.

Hoopshype does not report anything, they just copy/paste from articles and take the best parts.

Ira Newble isnt great. but he is good enough for us to sign. Everyone is just using their toughness to beat us, look at the kings. besides the frequent slashes by Udrih and martin, we let people like artest, moore, and miller all push us around. Gasol isnt the intimidator, LO sure isnt one, D-Fish and Kobe are the only intimidators on defense. Kobe can be a lock down defender, D-FIsh can show strong defense but against speed it hurts us. Ariza was our option to use on the wing to help cover the wings. Without a timetable for arizas return we are missing that defender again. Newble is at least a better defender than vlad and luke. Luke has his moments but often gets beat. I am pretty sure we can get him for cheap so why not. when ariza comes back, then we can really push both of them out there to defend when it matters in the playoffs. We will need them against the east like detroit , cavs, and celtics and for the west with spurs, houston, hornets, suns, and mavs.

oh and if he can roundhouse kick any opposing SFs and maybe some PFs in the playoffs, then it would be a welcome. Great pic Frantik.
