aight...here's the deal...
if you know me, I'm not the tank type of fan...but I have no problem with the philosophy and fans supporting, or thinking its beneficial not to make the playoffs than make them...
BUT!!!
I am implementing a rule for ALL game threads...Tank talk is officially OFFTOPIC...there's a draft thread/tank thread...do all you posting in regards to the your hopefull and wishful thinking the Nets are going to lay dow and die there...(which, imo, is not going to happen...there is too much character on this team, as well how competitive our makeup is for a tank dream to happen...)
we all know the rules of the NBA as far as this situation is concerned...please respect game threads and leave the tank talk to the respective threads...
thanx,
jj

couldnt agree more.. i was getting on the lebron fan in front of me after that one.. some random thoughts: lebron is already getting the jordan treatment from the refs w/foul calls, so to the guy insinuating that we got all the calls UR F'IN CRAZY.. but i will say that, after finally seeing him live, he will one day be looked at as the GOAT.. just wait til someone puts a team around him, hes scary good w/his scoring, passing, and defense... also SWAT barely played, maybe about 1 min total, but he didnt look any more lost out there than boone did last yr, so by yr 2 he'll be starting IMO, hes too athletic and big to not be a starter... devin harris is amazingly quick, he blew by everybody all game, hes gonna be fun to watch for a long time.. gotta work on the midrange J a little.. marcus williams is a gifted passer, u gotta see it live to truly appreciate it (needs more consistency tho, but has the and1 type **** down) ... VC getting doubled constantly should be more helpful to our offense, i mean he gets defended similarly to lebron, its just that we dont have the shooters lebron has (damon jones' 3s couldve been killer in the 4th) in conclusion, we gotta sign lebron, i wouldnt mind going to watch him play every game.. def the best bball player ive ever watched live (i never saw MJ in person, but i did see kobe.. lebron will surpass him eventually, in championships maybe, but definitely numbers-wise)

Yay. Pretty good game. First time in a long while we looked more like an NBA team than a Summer league team. We made shots that you'd expect NBA players to make. We passed the ball as well as we have all year, and put ourselves in a position to get good shots. Getting the ball in comfortable position relaxes the shooters and helps the shots go down.
Defense still sucks. But we did show some effort. Saw a bit of Harris' vaunted defense.
I'm not too high over a win. We shot lights out and made plays for much of the game, and we only barely beat a badly depleted, cold shooting Cavs team, at our home. (Tankers will be happy to remember that.) But it was just nice to sit through a game without feeling like I wasted my time watching an ugly imitation and fraud of an NBA team in Nets uniforms.
8th place again, in the playoffs, oh yeah! I'm not going to brood too much over if we make the playoffs or not ... what will happen there will happen.

Piss poor rotation on Franks part. We could of blew this game plenty of times. We lost a huge cushion in a matter of minutes by going small again. Our bigs need more burn, especially Swift. Kristic needs more plays, especially in the post, when he gets this hot. I'm still not fond on Boki as most of the posters here. He's still plays extremely weak and sloppy. He's inconsistent and unreliable. Devin understands the game, puts in a ton of effort, and is talented...great pickup. It was nice seeing Boone finally attacking the rim with a purpose. VC needs more plays other than high pick n rolls. He plays better with variety. Great effort in other parts of the game though. I really liked RJ's game today. He made excellent decisions mixing up with attacking the paint, nice pullups, and shared the ball well.

Franks rotations yesterday were good and wtf is all the Swift love about ?
The only he's been known for is dunking and thats it ... , Boki was great yesterday and one of the reasons we won. The Cavs don't have a big offensive 4 that needs a big to defend him and when Bokis shot is on he's usually really great.
And why would you run plays for Carter yesterday when his shot was completely off and all the others where on ? And everytime he had the ball i a position to get an easy basket he got doubled that was no choice either.
Krstic should have gotten a bit more burn yes but Boki was too good to be left on the bench and Krstic isn't ready to play and defend at the 5 .
Blame Frank as much as you want but yesterday he made good decisions.

Swift can block shots, finish strong, and pass in the post. He's a post presence we need when we get cold from outstide. He also played well in the HOU game, so I thought he deserved more time. We went on a 1-10 run on jumpers with small lineups. In fact, I can't recall any game we had this season when our small lineup outscored our oppoents.
Carter doesn't need to shoot to be an effective playmaker. And VC having an off shooting night, is exactly why I want other plays being called for him. Frank's settling for high pick n roll made our offense predictable. AT LEAST, mix it up if you're going to rely on a player with an off night.
Your point in Boki earning more playing time than Kristic is laugable. Kristic was one of the main reasons we were up 18pts in the 1st. Even when Boki is hot, he's still nowhere as productive as Kristic when his game is on. Kristic is an average defender, can rebound, score in the paint, and consistently hit jumpers. His approach and understanding of the game is near flawless when he's healthy and on. If there was ever a game to ride him this season, this game would of been it so far.
Boki can't defend for nothing and plays extremely sloppy. If those shots didn't go down for him tonight, our lead would of been down by 15 in a matter of minutes. Wake up. It's been happening all season.
You could think Frank made good decisions, but we could of blown this game away...adding to one of the many games where we can't hold a lead for crap, and get predictable, sloppy play from small lineups. I'm glad you applaud him...*sarcasm*

Swift is NOT a post presence ....
He always had a post presence next to him Gasol in Memphis and Yao in Houston he could profit of ...
Krstic was great in the 1st half yesterday but in the 2nd he was cold and Boki was so on .
Yes Bokis defese sucks but the Cavs don't had anyone dangerous he had to defend .

Frank made good decisions? Thats how we lost the lead to 1? when i saw hassel come in the game i was screaming inside. Here comes the Frank i know, i thought. His rotations completely take the momentum from our team. You had guys getting to the rim at will and you won't give sean a shot at blocking or deterring them? Nenad had it going in the first and you dont put him in the game til the second half when his knee stiffens up and he goes ice cold? We won cuz the players played hard.
The only reason i wouldn't want the nets to play well is because people will start crediting it to the coach which is already happening. Let's play well after we get rid of this joker.
Hassel shouldn't have to come into the game. Devin or RJ can give VC his breather. and VC + Bokie can give RJ the breather. With the proper rotation, hassel should only see situational minutes like DA. NONE of the guys i mentioned should EVER play the 4.

Hassel played very good on the defensive and yesterday , he is no match for a real 4 but the Cavs didn't have that.
We don't have somebody that can punish our opponents when they play small , none of our bigs besides Krstic is any kind of offensive treat and they clearly shown they can't defend perimenter players .
Sean looks done for the reason , he never played so many games in his life in such a short amount of time .
He hasn't played real basketball before this season in 7 months , he's not looking like he's already able to play that much .
The way he's playing right now he's not helping the team . The only thing that would have happend with Sean trying to block Lebron would have been And1's ...
And don't even think about mentioning Swift .

Even if thats not the reason .
The problem is this teams trying to win and having a rookie in that tends to take a lot of unneccesary fouls isn't helping .
He got in most of the games but got pulled quite fast after he raised the team fouls in a hurry ...
He had so many stupid foul , yesterday he shoved Smith to the ground for no reason at all ...

Kristic only had 2 plays called for him in the 2nd, and none involved post play. Yank him for that? Please, your reasoning is absurd. We played a small lineup twice, and got outscored by double digits BOTH times.
Who cares if he didn't have to defend? If your gameplan is to win by outscoring an opponent without playing defense, when our team is not the Suns, is exactly the reason we've been losing games ALL season long.
Swift looked good in Houston, he got into many spots where he could of had many easy buckets. He just doesn't get the ball down low. Our offensive sets don't work for an inside scorer's game, it's that simple. We rely on jumpshots. None of our plays involve driving lanes towards the paint. We are a perimeter oriented team with high flying, inside scoring talent. IT MAKES NO SENSE.
Sean hasn't been taking advantage of. He is a gamechanger. A superb help defender who runs the floor. Put him in with a true center, and draw defenders towards him...and he won't disappoint. Swift will do the same, except he has the advantage of being experienced. If you paid attention to whenever he gets playing time, he makes excellent decisions in the post. He cuts, posts up, and makes good passes offensively. Defensively, he gets many deflections, blocks, and boxes out. It's just that NONE of our bigs are being used properly. If you read recent articles, Boone even begun complaining. Yesterday's game is a clear example of how the ball should be thrown into the post. Everytime it was thrown down low, we had excellent ball movement. That ball movement led to opportunities for everyone, leading us to double digit runs. As soon as we go SMALL, we enter a jumpshooting mode on offense (especially when Boki is in)...and lack of post defense, rebounding, that lead to us losing a lead..or us losing by 20pts.
Don't just watch the game, understand it.
