Reasons for Road Losses.

Here is my reasons. The Jazz need to run on the road!!! They always just walk the ball up the court against bad teams.

1) By fastbreaking they will get some easy baskets Raising their FG% and increasing their chances of getting fouled.

2) By raising the FG% the Jazz have a better chance to get back on defense creating more deflections and blocks oppurtunitys and less fouls.

3) By getting back on defense they lower the other teams FG% allowing the Jazz to get more fastbreak oppurtunity's.

4) By pushing the ball up the court the Jazz can get in their halfcourt set with 20 seconds left instead of 10. By doing this the Jazz put more pressure on the opponents defense all game.

5) By allowing the other team to get back defensively at home the opponent will be able to get away with more by the officials because they are set on defense.

6) By pushing the ball and attacking all game the officials will catch the opponent reaching and grabbing more because they are not set on defense.

It is really quite simple. By running the ball more and getting in early offense you put more pressure on their defense raising your FG%. The higher percentage your team shoots the ball the less fastbreaks the other team gets and the better chance you have to get set on defense. If your the better team then you got to attack them. Geez, you would think Sloan would know this.

No, the reason we lose road games is simple: Carlos Boozer.

Trade the bum. He gets worse every game. Well, not his defense. It can't get worse.

One thing I find strange is something that Ron Boone pointed out a few games ago, in broken stuttering jibberish of course, so i'm not sure how many people even understood him; anyway, it's something i've noticed before.

It seems like when the Jazz push the ball and run it, they play with much more fluidity, create more good shot opportunities and in effect score alot better, with everyone involved...obviously, most people are aware of this.

That said, why in the world do they slow it down under pressure? Usually when a team starts getting into a big defecit or are met with alot of pressure at the end of a game, they may panic a bit and speed it up on offense, resulting in rushed shots and turnovers.

It seems like the Jazz are the exact opposite.

Instead of continuing to pressure and move the ball, they feel like they need to slow it down and "control the tempo"; someone ends up holding the ball for to long, the shot clock starts running out and it ends up in rushed shots and turnovers. They play sloppier and they're easy to defend when they play so slowly.

The Jazz's "tempo" is NOT the same as it was when stockton and malone were 70 years old. They play best when they're somewhere between the half-court offense and fast-break style play; not as rushed as the warriors but not as slow as 50% of your Eastern Conference teams.

The thing is that on the road there's usually only two or three players from the Jazz who try to propel the entire team and nobody else even tries, and two or three guys can't make the Jazz win. It just won't happen.

We lose on the road because Carlos Boozer plays with no heart and plays absolutely zero defense. Its pretty sad to watch guys like Charlie Villanueva (a bench warmer when Mason and Mo Williams are healthy) and Drew Gooden light him up. Just pathetic really....

I think Deron makes Boozer offensively. I wouldnt be opposed to getting rid of Carlos. I love the dude and all, but team first. Deron is worth the max. As far as Im concerned, everyone else is expendable.......

have you guys ever thought that the jazz seem to struggle on the road because the teams they play get up and attempt to play their best game against utah? personally, i see that as a major sign of how good this team really is. do you guys realize that the last game that the houston rockets lost was to the JAZZ at home? i really think that this is our year. i think that we can take every team in the league in a seven game playoff series. we are unbeatable at home and are good enough to eventually beat our opponents on the road. i think that this even includes our ultimate road futility: san antonio. every time we play them down there, we get closer to winning every time. they can't beat us forever. i even think that the jazz would win a seven game series against boston.

Garnett has western conference finals appearances, so does Cassell. Good to remember that Lewis and Allen once upon a time were consistently in the playoffs too. Pierce has been in Boston for a long time and he has been too in the playoffs. PJ Brown is an old fart too. Eddie House was key off the bench for Phoenix during their Western Conference final run too, and James Posey has won a championship. Rajon Rondo is gay, Kendrick Perkins eats too many cheeseburgers, and big baby is rookie, but their team is well equipped all around.

I think you proved your point, and Boston is a good team. I am kind of counting on you guys losing that game, but you have an excellent chance of winning it. The Jazz seem to always fair well against the better teams in the East. You have pretty much owned the Pistons over the years. This should be a pretty tight game.

The thing that is making me furious with Boozer, is that when he actually tries, his defense isn't that bad. The problem is, his defensive effort is 95% non-existant. Thankfully, when the game came down to its final seconds, he actually defended the paint and forced some turnovers. Where was that for the first 45 minutes!?!

I think Boozer is one of, if not THE MOST gifted offensive bigmen in the league. That being said, I would seriously consider trading the bum. That way Memo could move to PF (his natural position) and instead of being undersized at both post positions, we would have very good size at PF (Memo is 6'11") plus whatever else we started at Center.

I wonder if we could get Brand from the Clippers or a combo of Bogut and Villanueva from the Bucks? Maybe Noah and Tyrus from the Bulls? In any case, I'm tired of watching Boozers no effort matador impersonation night after night.

lol at the whole thing. i guess your main point is that they are a great team. and they are.

i didn't know rondo was gay. i thought he could be an alien though.

btw perkins is a block machine lately. expect both kg and especially perkins to frustrate carlos. we all know kg has a mean streak, but perkins is playing great ball this month.

i think allen went to the WCF with seattle and the ECF with the bucks.
this is a team with tons of playoff experience, but not together. oh and pp went to the ECF with Antoine Walker....lol! antoine walker...sad.

Defence should be at the forefront of the discussion.

The Jazz went from giving up 97 a game in Jan to to 100 in Feb and 102 in March. The Jazz are executing on offence but you don't win games by letting your opponent score as much as they do and shoot 46% from the field.

Sloppy rotations, poor man to man defence lead to lapses defensively. In the last 3 games the Jazz have allowed their opponents to score 107 a game while shooting 47% from the field. It's a glaring weakness.

Defense has been on the verge of grotesque. When we had our 10-0, we didn't capitalize on good D on Salmons on our February loss to Sacto. Against T-Wolves three players went for over 20 points, all of them part of the front court. Against Hornets it was dissapointing as hell seeing a 40 point quarter by the other team, and players that are virgins at penetrating the paint, gets 3 point plays. Clippers loss has accompanied with hot shooting by Tim Thomas, and Al Thornton on the 3rd quarter. I can't believe we are Maggette's bit time bitch for penetration too. This month we loss to the bulls, the team that ranks 30th in FG% goes on a 46% FG showing and score over a hundred, with Gooden and his easy baskets and three point opportunitties.

Do you remember the Denver loss on January? How Kleiza went for 41 with wide open 3 point shooting and not mentioning his deep penetration and extreme blowout in the mile high city. Or also the loss at Portland, in which we melted down in the 3rd quarter with Martell Webster going in a 23 points on the 3rd quarter alone raping CJ Miles, Ronnie Brewer, and Kyle Korver on the way. If anyone noticed, Martell Webster on that game would weave through the lane, and would go by Boozer, who in turn who screen Kyle or CJ, who could never get there on time to contest Martell's shooting.

Let's not speak about Career games by Alridge on those bunch of games.

Defense tightened up with Korver getting blocked shots, and taking charges, but now they have relaxed too much, way too much. Now the Jazz are back into being a mediocre defensive team. Even in bad shooting nights, the Jazz can get close to a hundred, but they snatch their very own chances at winning by playing poor defense and not getting defensive stops.

Boozer has played only one game consistently defense all night, and that was against Tim Duncan when the Spurs played earlier this year. Other than that, he has been short of nothing but being stripped of being a captain. The dissapointing thing about Boozer is that we forgive him about his defensive lapses when he goes for 30 point consistently, but now Deron has been having to pick up the offense for him cause he is sparking for 4 or 5 consecutive trips on the floor, and the rest of the night is turnovers and bad fouls. Boozer is averaging 18 ppg in contrast to 25 ppg in november.

Williams having to make up in the offensive end is then the collateral, and now Williams keeps constantly getting blocked due to the lack of help in opening the lane by Boozer.

Boozer has been the key to our recent lack of game, and Deron Williams superstar play has had to make up for it.

I am ready for an Al-Jefferson trade. Look at the numbers Jefferson puts on a team that has good rebounders, and he has nowhere near the class of PG that Deron is. He is also like 22-23, there is a tremendous upside to the guy.
