This year against Wallace, Garnett has shot 54.167%, Duncan, 50%. Anyway, I don't know how a player who has never made an Defensive team can be considered the "best low-post defender of all time."

I think it's odd that nobody seems to like McAdoo. How many of these players were arguably the league's best player at one point? McAdoo might not have had a long peak, but between 1973 and 1976 he want 2nd-1st-2nd in MVP voting. Barkley, McHale, DeBuss, and Buck never came close to that. He played in the same era as Hayes and was clearly superior.

I think

Duncan
Malone
Pettit
Garnett
Barkley

are the top 5, and it gets messy after that.

Only a minor detail: Bob started at C then. ;-)

I just want everyones honest opinion? I think Tim Duncan is the greatest PF to play the game. But if David Robinson didnt play would Tim be listed at center? If so I dont even think he makes top 5. When David left Tim played some center but Spurs always tried to get a big to move him back to PF. Was/is he even able to play center? Or is it just for better usage? I just remember the draft and him being considered the top C not PF coming out of college.

I agree but be warned: Prepare to get flamed. People seem to hate it when you call Timmy a C.

I'm a die-hard Knicks fan but I'm shocked that a guy like Oakley got votes when I could mention countless guys that were better than him (Truck Robinson, Maurice Lucas, Derrick Coleman, Larry Johnson, Larry Nance etc...).

Re: Red Robot's McAdoo reference. Not only did he play at center for his peak years, it is very arguable that he was considered better than Hayes for his career. He was certainly the more effective scorer, but Hayes was certainly the better rebounder and defender and the numbers Hayes put up with the Rockets before being traded to Washington are comparable with McAdoo's MVP season.

I only need to say one thing about McAdoo, even aside from being a center:

One-way.

Tim IS a center; Popovich has said this on more than one occasion and from his style of play, it's functionally clear that this is true. He's the archetypical center, actually, a classic example of what a real low-post center looks like on both offense and defense.

You'll notice too that aside from Rasho, that the Cs playing alongside Duncan usually have a mid-range jumper and can float around the elbow and out along the baseline to open space up inside for Duncan to operate.

And you'll notice that Robinson was the same way.

Admiral may have been listed the C but he was always the PF while Duncan was on the floor.

LOL at Webber getting the same amount of votes as Amare. Webber was IMO at least top 8-10. And to the person who said that Webb's prime was only five years, Amare's has been like 1 year so far, and in Cwebb's standards, that one year was mediocre.
