Sasha the next Bowen?

Post#1 » by Rasho Brezec » Thu Mar 13, 2008 2:22 pm

Sorry if this had already been discussed, but I'm new here and I didn't find a thread related to this subject.

So, do you think Sasha could develop into a Bowen type of player? I think they have some resemblance: pesky D, ability to shoot 3's...

Hey, half of the players in the league already hate him, sort of like Bowen. :D

The big difference: Sasha merely tries to play D, Bowen actually does it (among other nefarious things). Love Sasha, but he'll never be on that level.

Bowen's defense isn't pesky in the way Sasha's is pesky. Bowen is physical. Sasha annoys people with flopping. Really Sasha is the bizarro-Bowen

He's a better offensive player. Defensively, they're on completely opposite ends of the spectrum. I see where the OP was going, but it's not really a good comparison, not until Sasha becomes a lockdown defender who excels at the fine art of dispensing cheap shots without getting caught. Right now, Sasha is merely an irritant.

sasha is a pimple you cant scratch and if you do you'll pay for it. just look at carmelo ejection, wade technical for throwing sasha into the benches, balkman Technical, francisco garcia's foul on sasha almost became the moment changer that the lakers could have used to beat them, urid kneeing sasha in the face cost us the game but if you watch the replay sasha was on kevin martin and he was pestering him to the point that he shoved him to the ground if that was caught by the refs we wouldve gotten the ball and ran the clock down but it wasnt and urhid ran sasha over and we lost but sasha's body of work is impressive because he's gets the allstars the ones who are suppose to be in the most control of their game to get out of their element when he is D-ing up on him and that could cost their team the game, the list goes on....

If Sasha shaves his head and becomes PHYSICAL then he can be a Bowen-type player

I'm wondering if it would hurt sasha's game too much if he bulked up

Bowen is a one-dimensional offensive player---he hits the three, but not much else, including free throws.

Sasha is a one-dimensional defensive player---he's good at pressuring the ball, but doesn't play solid man or team defense.

I really don't see much similiarity in their game, or the role they fill for their respective teams. The one thing they do have in common is they both do fill a role for their teams, but the same could be said for many players.

^+1.

Sash is just a pest. like a freaking flying cockroach. Bowen is a true defender. But hey maybe we can get Ariza to be like bowen.

Don't Dare Compare Sasha with Bowen

Yea and Sasha is not a dirty player unlike Bowen, saw some video of bruce bowen kicking chris paul but paul was called for the offensive foul. Alot players say he tries to injury players unpurpose like Vince Carter said, when Bowen tripped him up, if someone career ends cause of his cheap antics then nba should ban bruce bowen.

On the other hand with Sasha..hes a good player who gives energy off the bench and has proved to be a good backup for Kobe and can hit the three, I'd rather have Sasha who could be a starter in a few years while Bowen is old and one dimensial player. Did I Metion he is a cheap and dirty player, but I'd rather take Sasha over Bowen no comparison needed.

Bowen is like the premieter version of Ben Wallace, doesn't even try on offense and is getting old, and he might end someone career if he keeps playing like that.
I don't think I Trust The Process anymore! :banghead:

Yeah, well, by comparing him to Bowen, that didn't necessarily mean to be just like him in every aspect of the game, although Sasha too has some tricks up his sleeve, to be fair. :P
But do you really see him as a starter in few years? Maybe, but not on this team.

Sasha is still very young and I see a lot of room for improvement and growth.

I hope Sasha doesnt become another Bowen, that means I'll want to kick La Maquina in the nuts everytime we play.

don't forget the momments he's had with Nash and Bibby.

I wish somebody would you tube all those moments together to the terminator theme and end it with a flury of about 20 3s in fast forward.
