$1400 for courtside seats (Rockets game). Worth it?

Post#1 » by semi-sentient » Thu Mar 13, 2008 6:22 pm

I'm considering buying courtside seats for this Sundays game against the Rockets, but I think I need a little motivation. That seems like a steep price to pay for 2 tickets, but damn, this is going to be one hell of a game. I really have no idea what to expect being that close to the players since I've always sat in nosebleed seats for the few NBA games that I've seen live.

The seats are pretty much dead center courtside, so does that sound like a reasonable price, considering the atmosphere surrounding this game? I'm sure tickets at Staples are stupid high for even crappy games, and the way I see it, this is like a once in lifetime thing as I'm not the type that goes to many live games. I guess I haven't been able to convince myself just yet, and the longer I wait, the less likely that the tickets will be available.

Help me out here... gimme some motivation. :x

if you're 16 and it's your life savings...no

if you pull $1,500/week then yes

if you're somewhere in between, your choice.

At first I was gonna say Hell No, but like you said this may just be a once in a lifetime opportunity and Kobe could have a historic game.... If you have the money, and it wont hurt you financially or set you back at all.... Just do it

the rockets don't have enough star power to warrant that type of money.

These dudes have won how many games in a row...20?? And still going? Rocks are the hottest team in the league right now. These guys must be playing out of their friggin minds or something to be hitting 20 in a row in this days NBA. DO you know what it would mean for the lakers to snap that streak?? without Bynum, Ariza, and a Bum luke, a skinny? Kobe would have to play his best man defense of the yr... That should be an MVP performance from Mr. 81 if the lakers win. That sure will solidify his position on top of Bron Bron for MVP. man oh man!! with all that said, I wouldnt buy those tickets... but gat dammit buy that $hit! if i had the money to spend like that, id me searching for those tickets right now.

Dont forget this is Phil vs Adelman...again... Plus playoff preview??...it should be at least as good as the lakers/ShaqSuns game

Well that is an awesome deal then. I have sat courtside at 2 arenas... 1 = Staples and 2) AAC ( Dallas) and they were around that much each.. in fact, the LA one was more like 2000 each.

do it

I have a Canon dSLR, but I'm not sure if I'd be allowed to take something like that to the game.

...

I just looked more closely at where the seats are, and they are right behind the scorers table. I think that pretty much kills it for me. If I'm going to pay that much, I want to be right on the court ready to do "The Airplane" when Kobe busts out his 4th quarter heroics.

Bummer. I was really leaning towards getting those tickets. Guess I'll look around a little more and see if there are any other courtside seats available.

Are you sure the are $1400 for both, seems to cheap. Usually for a Nationally Televised Sunday game, they will go for about $4-$6K for 2. I think they car row B Courtside. the aisle behind the Courtside Floor A.
Double check. Regardless the price is cheap for the tickets.

if your from texas, and this is the first time to the staples center, take advantage of the opportunity and enjoy the experience. whether or not your rockets win, its still nice to say that youve been courtside at a LAKERs game and watched 2 of the greats up close.

They were listed as c120, which turns out to be Row C, Section 120. On e-bay, they are listed as being courtside though, so I was thinking that they were 1st row with no obstructed view. Technically speaking, they are 1st row as far as fan seating goes, since the broadcasters/scorers take up the 1st 2 rows (tickets are directly behind the scorers table), but I'm not really interested in being behind anyone.

If $4-$6K is the typical asking price for true courtside seats in a game of this magnitude, then I'll have to pass on that. That's way too much to be paying for a regular season game (not that $1400 isn't, but still).

The game is at the Toyota center in Houston. If it were at Staples and I found 2 tickets for that price (even behind the scorers table), I would have bought first and asked questions later. ;)
