I think Ford may be a decent pickup. I think he might be had for cheap and if KP can get him for a good price, I think he would make sense. I also think hinrich is in need of a change of scenery and would fit very well in Portland, not to mention his value is fairly low as well. I think I'm a bigger fan of acquiring Hinrich but there are definitely a lot of options available.
I'm thinking something like:
Raef + Jack
for
Hinrich + Duhon

The two concerns that I have about Hinrich.
1) His salary
2) His penetration
He makes a lot of money for a 2nd tier PG, and I don't know if he can get to the basket. Remember back in the day when John Stockton would cut down the lane, the defense would collapse on him, and he'd dump it to Malone for any easy lay-up? Obviously, the Blazers wont be getting another John Stockton, but I'd really like to see a PG who can create easy buckets for the rest of the team.
Between Roy and a solid PG the Blazers could easily average 15-20 assists per game with just 2 players.

Im not willing to take on A. Miller without
Jack going & Blake staying. Miller isnt a
big enough upgrade for that. He may
indeed be a upgrade, but not enough
to lose Blake and Webster!! imo.. .
I also agree that the Blazers probably
wont be able to get a PG who meets
all the things we want in a PG.. .But
I sure hope Pritchard trys to, haha!!

about Hinrich: people are over-rating his defense. He has played good defense against SG's but not so good against PG's. He's probably a better PG defender then Blake, but not nearly enough to justify his salary. I haven't noticed him being a great penetrator either.
About Miller: he's a better penetrator then Hinrich, but he's no threat from 3pt range. And in my view, it's stupid to give up assets for a 1 year rental of an aging PG. Those assets can be, and should be used as leverage for long-term upgrades if it's determined those players aren't in the team's future.

Completely agree on Miller. He is 32 years old. it is pointless to give up anything of value to get him.

i'd like a guy like baron who can penetrate easily, finish at the rim, and dish crisp passes. i'd say penetration/finishing is a much higher priority than being a 3-point shooter; we've already got plenty of shooters. chris paul doesn't have the greatest 3-point shot, but who's complaining? he doesn't shoot many 3's but he gets open looks cause nobody wants him in the paint. THAT's what we need.
we've already got blake, who's solid but definitely not the penetrating type. i'd try to go for eric gordon who definitely fits the baron davis mold of a player. b.d. if we could, i heard he hasn't responded to an extended contract as of yet. devis harris. i'd vote against hinrich or any prototype point guard. right now, i think we could use a solid scoring threat at the 1. blake and sergio, 2 out of our 3 pg's, just don't shoot inside the 3. sergio doesn't shoot at all. jack sucks and i hope we trade him.
but what the heck do i know. i'm just a fan

Man, Baron Davis seems like he'd be amazing. I put him into the same category as Gilbert Arenas. Max salary, dominates the ball, but could be a piece to a championship team. The Blazers definitely need someone who can step up and win games in the fourth quarter.

Edit: Someone who can hit a jumper.
Doesn't that sound like D.J. Augustin? Am I the only one who thinks that he could be a really good pg for us? Only issue is that he might be gone by 13... or at least ESPN says he will be.

^Augustin could be a solid point guard, and I'm starting to like him more and more. I haven't seen enough to gauge his defense (he's under 6 feet so that's obviously something to take into consideration), but he can score, and he can pass/see the court. I wouldn't be opposed to taking Augustin, but I'd rather get someone like Mayo who has a real tenacity on both ends of the court.
The problem is that as per this thread, neither has NBA experience and both can be turnover prone, especially Mayo, something Nate is going to hate. That's why I still think Hinrich is a viable option for this team. His defense may be better against SGs as Wize said, but he is still a good defender on PGs and Nate will love that. He also plays under control and can hit the open shot or do a bit of penetrating. I'm pretty back and forth about whether we need a PG that penetrates or shoots it well, but either way I think Hinrich is the most solid "veteran" option because he fits Nate well.
