Who are the ELITE defenders of the NBA?

Post#1 » by LALakers4ever » Fri Mar 14, 2008 12:37 am

Here's my list seperated by Post and Perimeter defenders

Top 5 Post defenders in no particular order:
Duncan
Camby
KG
Dwight
Josh Smith - really guards both perimeter/post players, but I put him here. This one is very debatable

Top 5 Perimeter defenders in no particular order:
Artest
Kobe
Marion
Battier
Bowen? or is he below others now?

Elton Brand over J.Smoove in the post, Prince over Battier on the wings.
I'm with ya on the rest

How can someone be an elite defender if they haven't played this season?

there is a huge difference between great help shot-blockers, and great post defenders.

Must be true, if it's a rumor you read on Hoopshype.

Cuz being injured doesn't leave u outta elite defensive discussion, and cuz on top of it he's coming back very soon maybe?

I agree. He's coming back next year. We'll see if he can reassert his dominance in the post.

Dwight is a great shot blocker, help and 1 on 1 down low...and regardless of what anyone says...he is still a good defender in the post and forces a lot of changed offense when he is bodied...and that's all I gotta say about that...

Yep right up to point Bosh put 40 on him. :P
Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play. It is bound up with hatred, jealousy, boastfulness, disregard of all rules and sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence: in other words it is war minus the shooting.

so are you saying that Dwight can only block shots on the help? or did you not understand that correctly?

i guess that is the single piece of debunking info...

I never said Dwight was a great one on one defender...I said he is good, and he is...there are certain guys who have good nights and there are others who are just quality players and find ways to get theirs...it's not like Dwight was driven on to score all 40 points...
