Corey "Turbo" Brewer

Post#1 » by Gunny » Thu Mar 13, 2008 8:11 pm

I was at the game on Monday night and I heard a lot of people around me rooting for "Turbo." It didn't start out with a lot of fans, though. A couple guys started, then it grew to our entire section and even some fans from neighboring sections began.

Is that his nickname that I just never heard of or is it something that was made up that night? I still like it regardless.

EDIT: Feel free to lock this if it's not suitable discussion.

Why would this not be suitable?

I guess "Turbo" is a cool-enough nickname but it doesn't seem to fit Brewer to me. When I think Turbo, I think speed. Bassy seems more Turbo than Brewer. Maybe it's just me. If that's what people want to call him, though, I'm OK with it.

I like "Brew" better.

I still prefer Brew Crew, or even my suggestion when we first drafted him "Gator-aide" and I have never heard him referred to as Turbo even though I have spoken with some Gator fans at a college hoops game last year, figured they would mention it.

You know Gatorade was named for the University of Florida, right?

Mmaland has it correct.

Here is a little elaboration to the origin from the guys behind the nickname "Turbo":

Yea, and thus Corey Brewer and Chris Richard together are our "Gator-aide"

I'm not a fan of gator-aide.

Turbo and Brew are kind of like whatever.

I like "Brewie Smiles"

Edit: I don't think the resemblance to that Turbo guy is actually that strong to warrant the nickname

First nicknames always stick to me, no matter how lame they are. Brew Crew was the first nick name I heard for Corey, Cookie and Craiggers were the first I heard for Craig.

How can Brew Crew be a nickname for 1 person? If we had to guys with brew in there names, we could call them collectively the Brew Crew, otherwise I don't get it.

Agreed, or if there were a collection of Corey Brewer fans, they would be known as the Brew Crew. But just for him? Doesn't make sense.
