Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

He may have said that, cause this sounds pretty close to it.

"It's hard for me to be excited going forward because I don't see things getting fixed," Florida coach Billy Donovan said.

I called this before the season. Donovan caught lightning in a bottle with that team when Noah and Brewer became radically better players than expected. Back to being a middle of the road national team.

I think the press has terribly rephrased what Billy said to make it sound like the team wasn't commited. He started the whole thing off taking the blame himself.

As for lightning in a bottle, maybe, but the Gators are young and have a good class coming in. I think they will be very good team next year.

Well, it's hard for the media to rephrase something when they're just using quotes that he said. He did say that he was not excited about these freshmen becoming sophomores. He did call them out for not being committed. He did say that they weren't excited about being in the tournament. That's not to say he's not right, but these are his words, not the media's.

Yes, but the media is spinning it to mean that he thought the blame should all be on the players...which isn't true

you're right.

ive gone to a few games and watched this team play all season, and it was maddening. these players would go on playing great stretches of basketball, whooping up on everyone. then the next game, they'd get murdered. last night for example, they were down 42-14, and they cut it to within 6 with plenty of time left. they better figure their **** out or recruit a freshman leader because they don't have a leader on the court right now.

The Gators need to beef up.

Their new recruiting class should help. Had Patterson gone to UF instead of UK, it might have been a really good year.

All things considered though, and I'd say the Gators werer surprising in that they continued the 20 game victory streak. They'll be a lot better next year.

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

UF no playoffs. Magic playoffs.
Billy no playoffs. SVG playoffs.

I'd say it's more impressive to make the tournament in the NCAA than the playoffs in the NBA. You've got 65 teams making the tournament out of 320-something teams, which equalls about 20 percent, give or take. Whereas in the NBA, it's 16 out of 30, which is better than 50 percent.

Brewer was a McDonald's All-American and a starter and defensive ace as a freshman... everyone knew he'd be good. Noah and Green's improvement was what was the biggest surprise.

That said, it's way too early to call Florida dead. They were VERY young this season and have a terrific class coming in that should get them back to the tournament. As long as Donovan is there, they aren't going to go away.

And now FSU's bubble bursts too (I still don't get why UF is ahead of FSU on everyone's list).
