Yeah, and Kobe couldnt even beat this Cavs team that lost to the Wizards and the Nets.

We lost to the Cavs last year... what did that prove?

Hell we lost to the Bucks 2 times last year... what does that say?

Honestly you are making a terrible point...

I was responding to a terrible point made by that one dude above, saying "LeBron couldnt even beat the Nets or the Wizards".

Making a terrible response to a terrible posts really accomplishes nothing.

G35 wrote:Well you're right overall the WC record vs the East is about the same but thats due to the bottom feeders bringing their record down. Minnesota, Memphis and Seattle are getting pounded on but not just by the WC powers but the East also..

Last year the top 4 teams in the west (by record) won 80% of their games vs the east. This year that's dropped to 74%. Thus the top of the west isn't as good as it has been in the past.

Last year the top for 4 teams in the east won 56% of their games vs the west, this year that number has jumped to 65%. Thus the top of the east is better than it was in years past.

The middle of the west got better, the top and bottom of the west aren't as good. But the overall balance of east vs west is no different than last year, and not as dramatic as some other seasons.

CP3 will win the MVP award. If not him, then Garnett.

With Gasol going down, Kobe chances are slim to none, as the Lakers can't sustain their high level of play with no inside presence.

Better luck next year.

So Gasol getting hurt makes Kobe less valuable? I will never understand the logic of arguing the award that way, it contradicts the meaning of the word valuable.

8 teams out of 15 that is over .600
9 teams out 15 over .590

Show me a conference in history better.......
I'm so tired of the typical......

lets see how it looks at the end of the season. The teams play each other more down the stretch, they can't all keep winning.

Kobe will lock up his MVP at the end of this road trip without gasol. If they come out all wins then its his. THey could lose all and drop completely out of playoffs.

Yes, it will. If he's out an extended amount of time, then the Lakers really have no shot at winning the West, and I think it's a foregone conclusion that in order for Kobe to win he has to have the Lakers at the top spot.

Have to agree with this post, I have always been a guy that thought the best player should get the award, and I had Kobe the last two years, and I would give it to LeBron this year, but based on precedent set, it should be Chris Paul, unless the LAkers have a much better record than us.

Dont worry though, I heard the Lakers are working out a deal where they get Chris Bosh for Luke Walton, Chris Mihm and a 2nd rounder.

lj4mvp you sure know how to pick your stats.

There is no top team and mid-tier team on the West. There is no standout elite. They might show in the playoffs. But for now all of them are dead heat.

Instead of looking the top 4 (top 4 can sway everyday in the West). Let us look at the constant. The top 9.

The top 9 in the West vs the East is 166-59 Winning Percentage of .737 - That is projected as 60-22 in the West!

Another thing. Making the playoff in the East is so easy. Show me a playoff team in history that is projected to win 34 games? Lol!

This is a great opportunity for Kobe to end all MVP debate by carrying his team to a great record on this road trip w/o the 2 biggest reasons for LA's improvement this season(Bynum and Gasol).

Of course. Why don't we take out Fisher and Odom to and see how he ends the debate!

Thanks - that was my point exactly. The top got worse, the bottom got worse, the middle got better. The net is the east is no stronger vs the west than prior years.

Off the top of my head, the Jordan bulls once made it with 30 wins.
