Agreed. It's amazing to think about how different the NBA would be if this deal went down.

The Celtics wouldn't have had Ray/KG/Pierce (or probably Rondo, since they wouldn't have needed a PG at all), but Deron (or CP3, which is who Ainge wanted according to most, though he's never come out and confirmed who he wanted) and Al Jefferson to build around for a decade. Utah wouldn't be close to the team they are w/o Deron, the Blazers likely wouldn't have ended up with Roy+Aldridge+Oden. The Hornets may have had Deron instead of CP3.

Every team would be in pretty good shape, but I'd imagine all teams are very happy with the actual outcome.

I mean, who would want to be in Utah when you could have been in Boston.

That trade O'Connor made to move up from #6 to #3 was probably the best trade in franchise history.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe getting Horny for Jeff Malone was bigger.... No, I don't think so. Getting Deron was bigger than that.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Players who like winning, with a great corporation from top to bottom.

Chances are if Pierce had been dealt, the KG/Allen deals never would have been pulled off.

But Deron and Al Jefferson would have been sick.

At the time, would have loved for that deal to go down as a PDX fan.

Now however, I think this deal not happening is better for both teams. Boston has their big 3, and its VEEEERY unlikely Portland would have Roy and Aldridge, let alone Oden

I, along with a lot of other Portland fans were really really pissed when John Nash pulled the trigger on that one. I doubt we'd have Oden now, but at the time it happened looking forward, Paul/Williams >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Webster
